I asked them when August closed and they said it'll most likely be the same policy since its the same producers.
Which was
1 per ID sold when the box office opens but they only had 10 tickets (and it was usually either front row or rear mezz)
Hope I helped
and Just so u know there's a Bwaybox Discount for like $49 and its been off & on TDF
I'm seeing on Saturday. Can't wait.
They're assholes about student rush at the Music Box, which many have attested to. I would say don't count on student rush. Try something like TDF instead (while it waits), wait for discount codes (I believe there are already some for this show) or just splurg and get real tickets.

Rudy2, just because they didn't do things the way YOU wanted it to be, does NOT make them assholes.
Winston, don't assume. It makes an ass out of you and me.
It is well documented on this message board if you use the search tool that the rush policies utilized by this particular theatre are highly strange and unpredictable. Some of the staff are particularly rude as well.
I stand by comment. I would not go to this theater for any show - even if only 10 seats in the audience were sold - in reliance of rush tickets.

Wow, that's interesting about the Golden. I do know that the codes are decent and I belong to TDF. But the TDF seats that were mailed to someone I know for Donuts were pretty unexciting--like Row J of the mezz way off to the side--so I was thinking either use the code or rush with my daughter, if the tix were two per ID.
I'd been assuming that with the Steppenwolf roots, productions like August and Donuts would be especially generous with kids; you guys seem to be saying that it's the theater that governs these things more and is not very friendly about it. That's a shame...
You forget that the rush policies are never dictated by the theatre itself but rather the producers. You were bitching and moaning about how they sold ten assigned student rush seats towards the end of August's run. And, how you were bitching and moaning about how they wouldn't sell you a seat for the student rush price outside of those ten.
From a business standpoint it would be better for them to sell those ten seats and to sell the rest at a discounted price. They don't make much off of student rush and one should be thankful at all that producers are during it at all.

Sorry, I said Golden when I meant to say Music Box. Winston, your post isn't directed at me, right? I think I'm caught in between you and Rudy here....
Winston, get a hobby. Bitching and moaning is the terminology a bully uses to say complaining. Yes, I did complain, if only for the lack of logic. I simply went off and saw another show each of the two times I tried to rush "August." I later came here and vented. I can't help it if you want to deny me that right, but I'm not going to let you do it.
Also, I have had difficulty not just from "August," but also from previous productions in this theatre, again, not just with the rush policy but the staff themselves. And since we are assuming (as per an above post) that the policy will be the same this time, I said what I had to offer to the original poster.

April Saul, no, my post was not directed to you.
During the run of August:Osage County they put aside ten seats in the last row of the mezz. When they were closing those seats were going fast and Rudy was upset that he missed the chance to buy them. He didn't understand why he couldn't get another seat for student rush price considering the fact that they were not sold out and that they were closing very soon. He should have just been grateful with the fact that the producers were offering it in the first place when they in fact didn't have to. He was also being overly critical of the box office staff, thinking that it was the theatre, not the producers who make the rush policy. He in fact was wrong with regards to this.
The producers would have made more money to sell whatever seats were there at a discounted rate and not the student rush price, which is why they did it that way.

I'm with Rudy on this one.
Winston, you don't have an all-access pass to my brain. I don't even know you. Chip on shoulder much?
Thank you, Yankeefan. Rush is a wonderful thing when certain productions happen to sport it. Never in all my experiences, however, have I ever seen a show that had half a house weekly and acted like I asked to see John Lennon in concert when I politely asked if they had any rush available for the evening. And when I say politely, I mean politely.
I would have no right to complain if the producers said something specific as to how many tickets are set aside, a specific time they are sold, etc. However, they never did. It's frustrating. I'm not the Amazing Kreskin - I can't read peoples' thoughts.

When I rushed August, I got to the box office at 2ish for an evening show and got a student rush seat front row center.

Rudy2, it's not a chip on my shoulder situation. I do think that your wrong to think that the theatre itself is in charge of the rush policy. While I do agree that I don't think that it was just ten seats in the last row of the mezz (having heard stories from friends who, over the course of the run at The Music Box, have had student rush seats all over the place) I do think it was a set up of a given amount of tickets put aside vs whatever is left over. If it was whatever was left over to be sold at student rush price, then I could see why one would be unhappy. However, that was not the case. And, I do remember you being a little too up in arms about the whole thing.

This isn't on TDF though, right?
It is.
Perhaps you remember your opinion that I was up in arms. It's not an opinion anyone mentioned sharing.
I never said that the theater staff are solely responsible for what happens. I said they are assholes at the Music Box when it comes to student rush. Maybe I was overgeneralizing a bit. God forbid. This is an informal message board, not a courtroom where the slightest nuance can be damning.
Yes, there does seem to be a chip on your shoulder. Perhaps you've had negative experiences working with theater patrons, or perhaps you think young people don't deserve/are too expecting of theater perks aimed at them. My speculation. If such is the case, it is not my responsibility to bear the brunt of your aggression.
I'd be foolish to keep addressing your comments. I have no intentions of doing so from this point on.

Why doesn't it show up on my TDF page, then?
RentBoy, I just checked and it is no longer up on TDF. Perhaps it will return. They previously had a boatload of them. I believe I saw some on TDF as recent as Saturday.

bumping because I'm still hoping somebody will stop by the box office this week and ask!
I was at the box office on Saturday and there is currently NO rush policy of any kind.
I went today and they have a rush policy. Student rush, when the box office opens, 1 per ID for $29.50, and they only sell 10 tickets per show. So get there early folks!
Wow, they came up with that pretty fast.
When I went last week, they were said they were still deciding. Not that they weren't going to have one at all. And I would hope they would know what it is today seeing as previews start tomorrow...
