Anyone else want to see Audra McDonald as Eliza?

Added to the fact that she's far too old for the role, her voice also has an awfully mature, dark, heavy tone for that score - it would be kinda like hearing Deborah Voigt as Maria in West Side Story.

Better roles, I think, would be Mrs. Maurrant in Street Scene, Vanessa in Vanessa, Regina in Regina, dramatic soprano stuff like that. And definitely adult roles, not ingenues. Even better - get someone to write her a new role, like a musical of Beloved, with McDonald as Sethe. Or in a lighter vein, perhaps Amanda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.

YES to both of these. I can't wait to get her back on Broadway.

Yes. She's totally wrong.

Who wants to see Rosie ODonnell as Eliza?

Now I need a musical version of Beloved.
