I'll be there Saturday night. So excited. Can't wait to read everyone else's reviews and I'll definitely be posting mine.
So, what did you all think?
Raul was certainly the highlight of the evening. When he was on stage, the whole play came alive. This man is a brilliant stage actor and I hope he is consistently working for the rest of his career.
The play itself was just OK to me...it pales in comparison to the brilliant works I have seen over the past few weeks (Equus, The Seagull, All My Sons), but the audience really seemed to enjoy it. It is a quick 90 minutes and is worth seeing for Raul's performance.
I think this is going to be great for him, because it shows off a completely different side of his acting than what we've seen recently. People don't really think of Raúl as a comedic actor. Mamet certainly isn't your traditional comedy, but I think it plays funny as hell. I thought Piven and Moss were great as well, but Raúl definitely steals the show.
I definitely enjoy the play in performance a lot more than I do on paper, but I agree; it doesn't have the weight and emotional pull that I like to see when I go to the theater. But, it's a good time. I look forward to seeing it again as it tightens up, and I hope it's well received.
No.
That was incredibly short. It started at 8:10 and ended before 9:30. I enjoyed it and thought that Elisabeth Moss brought a lot of emotional depth to what otherwise might be a throw away character.
Ah I can't wait to see this...I hope this role will finally get Raul that Tony.

How do they differentiate the office set from the Bobby's house set, or do they?

This was a solid play. First and third acts were really funny. That Raul is a good actor and Piven is a funny guy. I got to meet Elisabeth Moss before getting rush tickets because she was standing outside in her sweats, she was REALLY NICE and she took a picture with me. Piven signed everything and was the coolest. Overall a great experience.
How was the audience (both size and reaction)?

Orchestra was full, not sure about mezzanine. As a student rush I got solid orchestra seats with CLEAR view, it was great. The crowd laughed and enjoyed the play as did I. Although me and my girlfriend sat near someone with a chronic farting problem, it was a female.
How do they differentiate the office set from the Bobby's house set, or do they?
The set rotates, and they have two different "rooms": Bobby's office and his living room.

Thanks! I saw the load in going on about ten days ago, and the bits of scenery and furniture on the street didn't seem very complex.
Definitely weird to be talking about "Bobby," given where S-t-P is. Heh.

Oh, you mean the "Ethel Esparza" Theatre?
