I did! I got an orchestra ticket for half-price from TKTs ten minutes before it started!
It was a lovely evening. I had never been to a concert-style performance of a musical like that. There was a full orchestra and chorus, which made the music just divine. Listening to Jason Danieley and Melissa Errico singing "Almost Like Being in Love" was a highlight. It was so refreshing to hear classically trained singers doing old-fashioned Broadway gems. I loved every minute of it and would love to see Brigadoon fully staged in the future.

Posted: 6/15/10 at 5:02pmNo. I was definitely not part of the gala. I lost the Next to Normal lottery and went to check out TKTS to see what was on sale. My friend and I weren't nearly as dressed up as anyone else and definitely would not have been included in the party afterward. I'm very glad I got to go see the concert though!

How full was the house?

Posted: 6/15/10 at 5:54pmI couldn't see the balcony, but Orchestra was fairly full. Everything Row N (where we were) and forward was very full. The sides of the rows from N back weren't as full. I wish more people had known that they could have gone without being a part of the Irish Rep.

I was there in the balcony. It was almost completely full with a few scattered empty seats. The mezz wasn't as full as the balcony and the orchestra.
Two words: JASON DANIELEY. That man has the finest tenor voice on Broadway. I want someone to write a new show with a classical-ish score so that Jason and Kelli O'Hara can star in something new, but vocally appropriate.
The highlight was very clearly Almost Like Being in Love. Melissa and Jason blended so well, it almost had me in tears. Also, nobody has comic timing like Christine Ebersole. The woman is a god.

Posted: 6/17/10 at 12:08amWhat did those who went think of Cariou? I could not afford to go, but I was in the area and waited around for him and asked him to sign my "Sweeney Todd" CD, which he very kindly did for me when he exited Sardi's. Now it has both he and Angela on it.

Posted: 6/17/10 at 12:11amGlad to hear Melissa Errico did so well! She is so overlooked especially by the young audiences of today, but she is really just ravishing on stage and never fails as an actress, despite always being in less-than-great shows!

Cariou was great! Being new to NYC, I've never seen him live in his very famous roles, but have listened to him on numerous cast recordings and could still hear his voice that I knew from those cds live! He really didn't have that much to do as Mr. Lundie (or is it Professor?), so most of his part was spoken dialogue. For people not familiar with his work, he wouldn't have been the highlight (he only got a smattering of applause when he stepped up for the first time), but I enjoyed seeing him.
As for Melissa Errico, I really didn't know much of her before the show. She did a fabulous job and I wouldn't hesitate to see her in anything she does in the future.
Can I just stress again how wonderful and seemingly rare it is to encounter such masterful singers performing a wonderful score? Loved it!
