Just curious if anyone has seen or will be seeing A Chorus Line this week as Yuka Takara is expected to return to the show as Connie after 3 months of being injured. If anyone knows if she has returned to the show, please post. Thanks!!
I am seeing it tomorrow night. I will report.

She was in when I saw the matinee on Saturday.

I saw the show last week (Thursday), and there was a Playbill insert with the pic and bio of the girl who recently joined the cast as Connie. I don't remember her name, she was ok.

Hm...maybe I'm an idiot then. The only inserts in my playbill were for other understudies, so I just assumed that it was her.
The girl that has been playing Connie for the last month is Lisa Ho.
I saw the Sunday mat. and her understudy was on.
I saw the show last night and Lisa Ho was listed in the playbill as Connie; it wasn't even an insert.
What happen to Yuka?
She's badly injured. I was told she was expected back this week, but if Lisa Ho is permanently in the playbill, I'm guessing Takara's done and Lisa Ho is the permanent Connie.
what happened to her?
Just when I thought Chryssie Whitehead had the worst last name...
OK I don't know anything official as to if and when Yuka will be back but I can clear up a few things regarding the Playbills. When J Elaine was Connie for that short span, we used Playbills listing Yuka but with large inserts for Ms Marcos. Same thing when Lisa first joined the cast. For January there have been 2 different versions- there is one with Yuka in it, which should have had an insert for Lisa if you got one- and the newer ones have Lisa in the cast list. I really have no idea what Yuka's recovery status is, but she was at the theatre middle of last week watching from the back. So I'd assume/hope she's not done for good, but that's speculation. As of right now, the Playbills all have Lisa as Connie.

Thanks BroadwayMatt. I going to guess that Yuka will be out a couple more weeks then. She was probably at the theatre to not only get together with the cast, but to familirize herself with the role of Connie again.
I was there last night for the first time. Yuka was still out, but One of my friends in the cast said that he expects her back in about 3-4 weeks or so.
J. Elaine Marcos was Connie? When? Between The Wedding Singer closing and now?
Since when has J. Elanie been involved with the show?
Pippin, thanks for the info. And funny you would mention having been there yesterday, cuz Yuka was there as well- again watching from the back with Ms. Lee and the dance captain (lyndy). it's good to see and now hear from you that she should indeed be back at some point.
J Elaine Marcos came into the role for a little over a week in early December- but was back at TWS for the final 1 or 2 weeks, which is around when Lisa came in.

From early October(whenever Yuka left) through Dec. 2, Michelle Aravena covered the role(who's the lead u/s for Connie). J. Elaine Marcos covered the role from Dec. 4 through Dec. 11 as she took a vacation from The Wedding Singer to perform the part. From Dec. 12 through Dec. 16, Aravena covered the part. Lisa Ho started on Dec. 18 playing Connie.
Thanks, Pippin, for that info. I'm glad to know she'll be back probably by February.
ACL, you never cease to amaze me with your grasp of dates and statistics! No wonder you're a sports fan as well. Hell, I was there through all of these changes and can only give rough estimates as to the dates of each Connie change. Michelle performed the role of Connie Mackenzie (a nice southern girl who happens to have the same name as a character in Mark's favorite book, "Peyton Place") quite a few times when no Asian performer was available. It should also be noted for your records that Lyndy Franklin went on a couple of times when Michelle was covering another role. In her case, since she's a bit taller, she would sing "Five foot two, five foot two! That's the story..."

What happened to Yuka?
Apparently no one knows what happened to Yuka
BroadwayMatt, thanks again!! I was wondering if Lyndy Franklin went on as Connie when Aravena needed to cover Diana or Maggie.
And my guess to Yuka's injury is she probably tore her ACL(no pun intended). It's a big injury in sports and will keep you out for 3-6 months.

What is ACL? I'm asking about what Yuka injured. I hope she gets well soon. She was great in the show when I saw her.
