Would be great to see this again, on tour.
So, who would play the lead?

Fantastic news for a fantastic production!
In a dream world I'm hoping Sutton would take the show on the road like the old school Broadway stars.

Posted: 6/17/11 at 5:38pmQuestion for those of you have seen the show. Is the show worth seeing without Sutton? I will be in NY around January 13th, so it would be part of the extension if I go. I don't know the show well, other than the title song. Worth seeing? I have two show openings to fill (already have tix for Book of Mormon and War Horse).

Posted: 6/18/11 at 12:17amI think the show is very worth seeing. Kathleen really re-invented the show and brought new life to this old classic. However, it is likely Sutton will still be in the show in January as I have seen that group tickets are being sold until 5/27/12!!

If you're a fan of Cole Porter's music, and almost everyone is whether they know it or not, you have to love this show. It's some of the greatest theater music ever written just coming at you one after the other:
"I Get a Kick Out of You"
"You're the Top" (duet)
"Easy to Love"
"Friendship" (duet)
"It's De-lovely" (duet)
"Anything Goes" (show-stopping production number)
"Blow Gabriel, Blow" (show-stopping production number)
"All Through the Night"
I'm not sure which I like best: the production numbers or the duets. This show is not as popular as "Mormon," yet, but it has been SRO the last month as word spreads.
Roundabout and Kathleen Marshall have created the best 30's musical ever performed, including the ones from the actual 1930's.
But of course if you like your musicals with some meat on them instead of just froth then this won't be you're top choice.
But you'll still like it.
