That's only 6 weeks away. No way she'll heal that fast and be able to get back in shape to tackle the role.
And frankly, if D'Amboise gets raves in Boston and then New York there's no way the Weisslers replace her before the Tonys (and Applegate wouldn't be eligible for Best Actress anyway if she doesn't open with the show -- barring some Larry Kert-esque move by the Tony committee).

Posted: 3/14/05 at 7:15pmWell, do any of us medical proffesionals know how badly Christina's foot has been broken? According to the reports, she didn't even know it was, as she continued dancing on it...
#29re: Applegate out, D'Amboise in permanently
Posted: 3/14/05 at 7:18pmApparently, she heard her foot snap and after a few more scenes couldn't go on anymore. HOwever badly she snapped only got worse when she insisted on dancing and walking on it. She probably won't be in the show until June AT LEAST.

Well, then do you think I can get a refund when they officially
annonce Christina out?
I wouldn't really care if I paid $65 with the promo code,
but I did pay full price.

Let's get some facts right:
Charlotte is OPENING the show in NYC, therefore, eligible for Best Actress in a Musical.. the logo and marquee will def. be changed and she will be billed as the lead, NOT a stand-by.
Christina Applegate will certainly NOT come back to the production as a replacement, she's too big for that.
I for one cant wait to see Charlotte. She is Brillant! DONT GET A REFUND TINY-TOON, you will be more than glad you saw Charlotte!

Posted: 3/14/05 at 7:21pmThis news is so exciting to me. Don't get a refund, that's stupid. D'Amboise is an amazing performer, and she was born to play this role.

D'Amboise, NOT Applegate, will open with the show and thus be eligible for the Best Actress Tony. And with the Tony voters coming to see the show in the weeks following the April 21st opening, there's NO WAY the Weisslers would replace the Tony eligible D'Amboise with the ineligible Applegate before the Tonys in June. And what if D'Amboise wins?
We very well may never see Applegate as Charity in New York.

"barring some Larry Kert-esque move by the Tony committee"
I was thinking the same thing depending on how long it would take to heal. You can bet the Tony people aren't happy about this. Whether you like her or not, Applegate was a plug to get people to watc the Tonys. You may think "oh she is not that big of an actress", but she would have pulled people in and I bet they would have used her as one of the main selling points to the general public. The Tonys are Broadway's one chance to really sell itself to America and let's face it. It needs all the help it can get.
