theatahguy, Morisette's name was brought up as a possible Elphaba for the Los Angeles production of Wicked, but it didn't end up happening.
I think that with the right project, Lauryn Hill would fare very well on Broadway (although she has been out of the scene for quite some time now.) If they ever brought back Once On This Island, she'd make one hell of a Ti Moune.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

Nice to know that I'm not so far off-base with that bit of casting! Her "No Good Deed" would be F-ing phenomenal. I'm sure she could belt every bit of that, and probably better than most of the ladies who've played it thus far.
...but as good as I think my suggestion is, Brittany as Helen is INSPIRED!!! Can I play Annie Sullivan so I can beat the hell out of her in that dinner scene?

Kelly Clarkson as Maureen in RENT. She would sing the sh*t out of "Take Me Or Leave Me." I wish she could be Mimi, but she's way too white.
Actually, Kelly Clarkson in anything she could sing the sh*t out of. Don't know if she has the range for Elphaba. She'd be really cute as Penny in Hairspray.
Gwen Stefani. Have no idea in what, but she's really cute and I'd jump at the chance to see her live again. I miss No Doubt.
