Are we the new BUTCHERS of Broadway?

Are we celebrating or killing Broadway on this board?

It amazes me how people on here trash show before they've even opened. People who go see a dress-rehearsal of a show in its pre-Broadway tryout report on how bad it is. The show hasn't even gone into previews out of town and already it's being slaughtered on here! I wonder what shape Follies, A Chorus Line or Gypsy were in during the out of town dress rehearsal. I'm sure they weren't all in the best shape before opening night on Broadway. How do we expect a show to open and do well if we kill it before it's final?

I, like all of you, enjoy hearing the gossip and the details about a show before it's opened. But let's try to go in with an open mind- Nowadays most shows undergo a lot of writing and re-writing during previews and it's unfair to trash a show before it's even opened.

there shouldn't be rules per se.
limiting free speech isn't a good way to go..
but our country's founders had no clue what to expect with bloggers in the 21st century. There is such hate being spread on the political boards throughout the internet..it's truly scary.

Hahaha.

It all begins so simply. So if anyone sees Rob or Craig yell, "NO POLLS!" then hit the deck...

Don't get me wrong- I'm all against censorship. I've been banned by Ann off the ATC board because of a slight infraction which wouldn't raise one eyebrow on BWW. I'm all for free speech- I'm just calling for some people to lower the level of vitriol, to go in with an open mind to a show that is still a work in progress.

What a ridiculous thread. Could you perhaps share some evidence that posts on a message board actually affect a show in some way?

Well if someone is going to claim that what we say here has a negative affect on a show's well being I think it should be backed up with something.
Has a show ever experienced any sort of problems due to opinions expressed on this message board?
B/c if not, then this is a moot point.

Oh, I get it...we can go see the show that charges money while they try it out, but we can't discuss it until it opens.

With all the money they got from all of us in those three weeks, it has now gone from theater trash to stage masterpiece, thanks to our silence.

Then when it opens we can all hug and celebrate how lucky we all are, and dance like Smurfs!

I like it!

It's not that hard:

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE = AUDIENCE OPINION

The End.

Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things.
PLEASE! Do not post anything negative or dramatic! DidYouReallyHearMe has LOST the ability to ignore such posts and he will comment! Please, help him.

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
