In school i am known as the only theater nerd. The ONLY one(its a small school). but teachers and students have approached me and asked what to see. I tell them the latest buzz. A few days later i find out they have seen a show and are later addicted to the cast recording. I write my essays on shows, my examples on shows and of course where theater memorabilia
My family that lives outwest where broadway is not as popular is hooked on going to NYC for a show cause i inform them of how great broadway is. My name is through the grapevine from friends and family as to report the latest hit shows when going to NYC. Life has not been so nice to me the past few years but Broadway has been.
Teachers have pointed out that i am more depressed when i am not talking about broadway.
Broadway i dont know if its the singing, the dancing, or the acting. But you have revolutionized my life in ways i cant express. I am happy to be a Broadway fan.

There's nothing wrong with your question at all, bundy5000! I never understood why people here feel the need to belittle others for asking simple questions.
And now to answer your question - Yes, I am an excellent source of information mainly because I have to be. I'm constantly answering questions relating to shows from the 40's through the present. It can be exhausting sometimes and there are days when theater is the last thing I want to talk about! :)

Absolutely :) Going to school in New York, people know that I'll at least have something to say about almost any Broadway show that they're thinking of seeing, whether or not it's actually informed...
But I'm glad your friends respect you as a source when it comes to Broadway shows! It's always good to have something you're passionate about.

Jose was a great source of for Broadway shows.
You should tell your teachers at your school that discussing your health issue during class is a HIPAA violation.

My friends have been calling me Miss Broadway.com for years. Even though I've tried to explain to them repeatedly that Broadway.com sucks now and I only use Broadwayworld.com. I guess they don't get the distinction

Posted: 6/29/07 at 2:19pmI agree. Do not let assholes make you feel bad Bundy! I used to think I was a bitch until I started reading some of these posts. Boy was I wrong. People just get off on making others feel like they don't know anything about Broadway (when you think about it: is there anything lamer? HA!) Don't listen to them. Keep loving theatre. We need more sweet people like you!

I love when people think THEY'RE the authority on all things Broadway and say something like:
"...my very first show I saw was in 1975. I saw FIDDLER ON THE ROOF with Bette Midler and Bea Arthur".
What's creepy is that they'll argue to no end that they DID see them in this back in 1975, even after you correct them.
NOTE: Yes, both ladies did appear in the show on Broadway. Bea Arthur in the original 1964 Broadway production and Bette Midler during the show's original Broadway run back in 1966.

Posted: 6/29/07 at 4:02pmwe should all be as proud of our love for theater! We're the ones that are the future of Broadway....we spend so much time discussing what will be a success, but in the end - we're the one's that decide. Go b'way fans!

Um, I think I am a pretty good source for Broadway shows
I pick the shows, the dates to see shows (on your trips to New York) and purchase the tickets online for my family and I.
So basically, if my family doesn't like a show, I'm blamed because I'm supposed to be able to choose good stuff, haha. Thats pretty rare, though, my family likes pretty much anything.
Also, my art teacher, my sister's friend, and a girl in my class have all asked me what they should see when they go to New York since I've gone there quite often, so that feels good.
I can't whip out theatre facts whenever someone asks me a question, but I like finding good shows and good seats for people. I don't know, its a good feeling buying tickets to a show (especially when you pay for the shows you see yourself- hey, im a teen, and i work to see shows like everyone else, haha). :)

Posted: 6/29/07 at 4:45pmI think I'm a pretty good source for my friends and associates. I often get asked questions about shows. I'm glad that you have found something that excites you. Everyone needs a good hobby, and keeping up on the latest buzz on Broadway is as good a hobby as any! I wish you all the best in school and in life. Because this is Broadway message board. Seriously, this is a forum for people to come and be accepted for their love of the theater! You're exactly the kind of a*hole Laura Benanti is talking about!
