Posted: 10/17/06 at 12:35amIn an interview Ashley Simpson said "When I decided to sign on to do Chicago, I decided I was going to bring a little comedy to it." WOW, this girl gives herself way too much credit. OBVIOUSLY she has never actually seen the play, because it is hysterical!!

Then again, this is Ashlee Simpson we're talking about. The chicken's in the oven, but it's not cooking.

"The chicken's in the oven, but it's not cooking."
That's quite a line
She is coming over to do the 10th anniversary presentation - whoring out to pop culture knows no bounds.

I usually would never say things like this, but... There are many other talented actresses who can actually sing and dance that deserve the role much more than she does. I feel so strongly against her even being near the Broadway theatre let alone playing Roxie. It sickens me.
And she sure as h**l has no business at the 10th anniversary gala.

I have no interest in becoming an Ashlee Simpson cheepleader... but must point out, yet again, that everyone who's seen her LIVE has seemed to love her.
Poor posters... nice try.

She actually doesn't sound bad when she sings "Roxie".

Yes, but those are all of her little teenybopper (hock, spit) fans who are going to see her, no? They have no taste to begin with so they wouldn't know the difference.
Now I know how that character in the CABARET movie felt when she said " I wish the Kaiser was back". I know EXACTLY what she means! ;P

Posted: 10/18/06 at 2:39pmAnd once again we have a thread where people are giving a negative review of something they havent even seen. People, come on be fair. P.S. I have never been a fan of hers nor am I some "teeny bopper". I saw Ashlee and she was quite good in the role. Thats just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own, but doesnt it make sense to at least offer an opinion AFTER seeing the performance.

Oh believe you me, I *was* being fair. More than fair. Anyone who gives a performance (and I use that word lightly) on Saturday Night Live the way she did, screwing up her song, blaming it on the band, then trying damage control in the media by blaming it on a sore throat and then, four days later, nervousness, really needs to go work at McDonalds for a living. The only way she entered into this level of entertainment was thru her sister to begin with, so she has scored no points in my book. In fact, at this point she's running negative numbers in my book of credit-giving.
Has she turned herself around? Oh perhaps, but still she has not paid her dues enough to be on that stage. Bubble gum music does not earn you legitimacy in the theatre, it only increases ticket sales which also strikes me as strange, I had no idea she was that much a draw across the pond. Or maybe it's because she *is* such an oddity, the Brits have this desire to see what she's about.
If she comes to America and I get a free ticket to see her, I may just take your advice and do that, but there is no way I will pay to see her.
P.S. Sorry about the hock, spit comment, I had a bad day and got carried away. My apologies for a lack of class. You can blame my boss. :)

PitPro, Nobody's family makes anyone famous. Thats up to the fans. She wasnt assigned any, they all chose her. I'm actually not one. I dont own one song or CD or hers, have never heard anything that hasnt been on the radio station I already had on and havent seen her live in the show. I will admit I watched about 3 episodes of her TV show a year or two ago while I was bored, woo hoo.
And by lack of class, do you mean how you insulted everyone who works at McDonalds? They're making an honest living too. They are even famously friendly and thoughtful "Would you like fries with that?", C'mon.
And if and when she comes to BWAY, I will happily take you with my extra ticket- just get some people to vouch for your sanity. I like my protection.
Do feel free to make fun of my typo on CheeRleader. CheePleader is funny, and you are free to chart using it.

To go along with what somebody said about Melanie, I saw her.
Front row seats, and she was awful. No talent at all, and she couldn't focus.

I just have to say, to those of you have not seen Ashlee live, she is a really good performer, her voice is not very good, but she entertains and engages the crowd.
And she is a trained dancer, she went to American Ballet Theater school, so she obviously has some talent. I am by no means saying she should be in a broadway show, but don't knock someone for one performance on SNL where she a**ed out and lip synced. Because I know a lot of you probably loved Milli Vanilli. When I saw her both times she sang live, granted the second time she would run offstage after every song, but she sings live, and she's a great entertainer.
So judge lest yee be judged.

#24re: Ashley Simpson in Chicago
Posted: 10/22/06 at 2:38amFrom what I heard...Ashley knows that she is a compotent singer at best, so she just hits all the notes, and focuses more on acting and dancing. My friend said she was fairly impressed.
