Ashley Spencer is fantastic in "Grease!"

I was able to see Ashley Spencer perform in "Grease" this past weekend! She was just perfect as "Sandy!!!" She is so talented--her solos were just great! Her singing, dancing, and acting were all top notch! The end scenes of the show in which Ashley is "Sexy Sandy" were just amazing! Ashley lights up the stage! She stood out in every scene in which she was in! What an amazingly talented actress she is! It is clear that Broadway has found a star!!! The role of "Sandy" is in the right hands!!!!

Are you serious? Is this her Mom? Ashley is a triple threat.... cant act, sing, or dance. Laura Osnes was a much better Sandy. To call her "a star' or "an amazingly talented actress" is just insulting.

I actually thought Ashley was really good...and so was Derek. The show itself though, is still dreadful.

the whole thing is still one big high school theater level show. It doesn't matter who plays who anymore, it sucks no matter what.

I LOVED Ashley in Hairspray.

She is NOT 'fantastic' in Grease.

I would like to clarify that I had never met Ashley until she was in "Hairspray." I became a fan when she was on the "Grease" TV show, and I continue to be a huge fan of hers because she is a huge talent. I know that there are some people who liked Laura better, but I disagree. I'm not saying that Laura was bad--I preferred Ashley. To me and many others, Ashley had all that it took to be "Sandy." And she has been proving it since July. Ashley was awesome in "Hairspray" as well--I'll give you that. But she is also amazing as "Sandy." Her voice is exceptional. And her dancing and acting talent are demonstrated throughout the show. And I use exclamations when they are called for, and when someone has achieved what Ashley has, they are!!! And the show was great--I have loved the movie forever, and I think that Ashley and all of the cast members did it justice. I highly recommend it! And for all of the people who are choosing to be negative, I will never get you. Why come on here and do that? Just to argue, just to be rude. Who knows?! There's just no need to be on here doing that. I came on here because I want to give praise where praise is due. These actors work hard, doing 8 shows a week, and deserve postive attention and feedback. There's no need to be on here and criticize people. I post because I want to share a positive experience and tell actors and actresses like Ashley just how much their hard work and talent is appreciated.

Kristen, you came on here because you are obsessed with Ashley Spencer and now you want to spread the Love. I'm not saying that Ashley is with out talent, I'm saying that your praise for her is based on your obsession for her and not on her talent. It's beyond a little weird! I used really enjoy going to Grease board but you and Ashley's friends and relatives want the discussions limited to Ashley and how great she is. Your "review" of Ashley's performance didn't indicate that you know her personally and it reads like someone who went to see the show and was blown away by her talent. You went to see the show because you wanted to see Ashley and you knew you would love it even if she sang every note out of key. I can't take any review you write seriously especially when you are trying to sound objective.

"Grease" cast is great! Show is a success! End of discussion! Glad you loved it Kristen. There are thousands out there that agree with you! If the rest of your don't like it, I respectfully ask that you move on.... and let the fans of Grease talk about it! We all know that there are a few of you that just keep coming back to make negative statements...and it's really getting old!

And, yes Ashley IS "fantastic" in Grease, as was Laura...and I AM a personal friend of Ashley, and proud of it!

At least my reasons for being on here are valid, which is more than I can say for some others, who choose to spread negativity no matter which board they are on. And my praise for Ashley is based on her talent. I didn't know her before the TV show, so my interest in her career was based solely on her talent. Clearly the decision to bring her into the show as "Sandy" was also based on her talent. And everyone at the show was blown away by her talent, not just myself. I am recommending the show because it is excellent, and I want others to get to have the positive experience that I had.

That was why I started the thread. If you didn't want to read it, I'm not sure why you made the decision to do so. The thread was clearly going to be about Ashley. And since she has one of the lead roles in a Broadway play, I see no reason why the thread would be off topic. Ashley is a big part of the theater scene. And because I am a fan of hers, I've had the chance to experience two great Broadway shows--"Hairspray" and "Grease."

Didn't think Ashley was fantastic as Sandy. Actually, when I saw her she was so off key in 'Hopelessly Devoted to You' it was embarrassing. She just didn't seem to click as Sandy for me. I know this will get a laugh, but there is more to it then walking on being sweet and singing nicely ... none of which she did. She was kind of a mean Sandy actually.

As opposed to Laura Osnes who I think is adorable. I saw the show 3 times with Max and Laura and loved them. I hope that when Grease closes, those two come back and close the show.

Lastly, I disagree that Ashley as Laura's replacement was strictly talent. I believe it was because she was runner-up and would have bought some name recognition.

Go ahead and freak.

No to start a whole `!%$@^storm... but AS also has quite the bad reputation around New York for being a problem... unlike Laura... who is widely known to be quite sweet and Sandy-esque. Maybe you were so taken by her "Sexy Sandy" cause that is a little more true to form. Even the former creatives... ie Kathleen and Marc Bruni have washed thier hands of this trainwreck. I really doubt that Derek or Ashley are selling tickets ... other than to thier familes and Kristen. That said.... Taylor Hicks is gonna sell tons of tickets on the road.
