I got attacked while in NYC twice for my love of ALL SHOOK UP. Once by a guy who thought Movin Out was better and Cheyenne couldnt sing. And again by one of those Improv comedy people telling me that I should see their show instead of ALL SHOOK UP because I had my ASU shirt on to not see "an overrated Broadway musical that sucks"

Ever been attacked?

Wow, Matthew - that's um...revealing. re: Attack of Bway Fans- Ever been attacked in person for your love of a sh

I once had Rent on when I was still living at home in GA back in 1997 and I had some guy on a tractor wearing overalls with no shirt on tell me to "turn off that hippie sh!t and do something useful".

That's a true story, no hyperbole involved.

Wait.

Where were you when this guy on a tractor confronted you?

Were you in a car? Was he passing by your window?

I was sitting in my front yard with the music playing (rather loudly, I admit) and he was driving down the street on the tractor.

I grew up in a fairly rural/conservative area.

Not sure how I turned out to be so normal/liberal.

You were sitting in your front yard listening to Rent in Georgia?

Wait. Were you sunbathing? Were you playing on a boom box?

I don't think this really counts but when I was in New York last my sister and I were walking at night and were passing all the theatres, which naturally caught my attention--and held it. Well, I was so intent on the Producers sign which had Hunter Foster on its billing that I almost got run over by one of those crazy NY bike riders who don't care who they run into. He got so close to me my jeans were ripped! It was all worth it for Hunter though......

Patronus, we should talk, I live in Georgia(aka the armpit of HELL).

What about your love for a Bway actor, choreographer, director, ect.? Because I was talking about my obsession(sp?) of Bob Fosse. This guy turns to me and says, "Do you kno who I'm glad is dead? Bob Fosse?" And was DEAD(no pun intended) serious!!OMG! Can you believe that!?

My parents are heavy smokers, so I spent most of my time outside. I actually had the speakers from my stereo facing out the window.

Does the prosecution rest? lol.

Trust me, I see the absurdity in it. It's why I have lived in Southern California for the last 7 years.

Yeah, send me a PM or an IM sometime, Fosse.

I catch crap all the time for my (slightly obsessive) love of Phantom. If I'm in a room and someone says "Phantom", everyone looks at me.

Not attacked...but my musical theater class ganged up on me for my love of dark shows that explore political and social ideas. They didn't really dig Sondheim.

Then again, the teacher always turned to me to varify facts and I brought in half the class materials. I had to tell her 5 times that it wasn't Sunday With George.

cancellation line for Wicked. A woman tries to make small talk by asking myself and my friend if we've seen Movin Out, and what we thought about it. I said I didn't really care for it, and the dancing was amazing, but I had seen better. I'd take Q over it any day.

the lady FLIPPED OUT. started basically telling me how amazing it was and how her daughter was a dancer and its top quality, and better than this and that and this and she'd seen it 5 times... which of course means I should love it, too apparently. Said Q was a piece of amateur theater and she didn't see why people liked it or why it had even been nominated for awards.

I sorta just said, ugh... i'm glad you loved it but I didn't at all, you really don't have to push what you love on other people so forcefully and knock down what they like. That's pretty rude.

Needless to say, standing in line for 3 hours with her after that was pretty much the most awkward 3 hours of silence I've ever experienced.

Many years ago, during my teen years, living in the grand old state of Bum-F*CK Florida, I was walking down the street, listening to Five Guys Named Moe on a boom box, and someone threw a beer can at me from their car...
Ah, good times...

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

HAHAHAHAHA

I think in that situation...you kind of deserved it, hon.

I mean. Rent blasting outta your window to the front yard is one thing. But you took that show on the road...

Aw. To think of it- that is sad. Are you okay? Because if a can of beer was ever thrown at me and I wasn't riding on a mechanical bull at the same time...my feelings would be hurt. Especially if it was cheap beer.

I grew up in the warm, sheltered arms of Southern California . . . or so it seems based upon every one else's experiences. As long as you are thin and/or have money, no one gives a rats ass about what you listen to. . .

There are some benefits to being from LA . . .
