When do you think Audra will get a theatre named after her?
Does she plan on buying one?
Maybe in 30 years? If that happens, I don't think it will be in the near future.
What next
The Nathan Lane theater

I think a Theatre named for the great Julie Harris would be lovely.
Problem is to many names and not enough theaters
Another problem is whoever is chosen fans of someone else will get their knickers in a twist because their favorite was not chosen.
This thread is either satiric or delusional. Hard to tell. But I sure do hope it is someone's idea of satire.
Well, it's hardly delusional to suppose that a six-time Tony-winning actor would have a theater named after her someday (and the OP didn't specify a Broadway theater). In fact, I'd consider it a near certainty. I do think 30 years sounds about right. :)
Yes, it is a near certainty, indeed! Just like Hal Prince, the winner of 21 Tony Awards has a theater named after him;
just like Bob Fosse, the winner of nine Tony Awards has a theater named after him;
just like Tennessee Williams, who has a Pulitzer Prize, two Tony Awards, and whose greatest plays are revived regularly, has a theater named after him;
just like Julie Harris, the winner of six Tony Awards has a theater named after her;
just like Arthur Miller, who has a Pulitzer and three Tony Awards and whose plays are studied in universities and will be revived for years to come has a theater named after him;
just like Gower Champion, the winner of seven Tony Awards, has a theater names after him;
just like Angela Lansbury, winner of five Tony Awards has a theater named after her;
just like Jerome Robbins who has five Tony Awards and whose choreography has become iconic , has theater named after him.
All certainties, right? -- Wrong, but all more deserving that Audra McDonald.
Anyways, writers are ussaly the people who get theatres, not actors.
Lunt/Fontanne and Helen Hayes were rare exceptions.
Well, most of the ones you cite do have theaters named after them (links below, and note the parenthetical comment in my previous post). And I'd say that it's highly likely that some of the others will have theaters named after them someday, too. :)
My use of "near certainty" was probably too strong, and I acknowledge that the OP may indeed have been referring specifically to Broadway theaters, though that wasn't stated. However, calling the notion "delusional" is also clearly too strong.

Let me get this straight. You have a thing for her and think she is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Yes she is super talented but deserving of this honor reserved for theater giants. A bit much wouldn't you say?
I think Reid Burney should have a theater named after him.What about one for Laura 's Osnes ? The possibilities are endless.

I'd rather see a Carol Channing theatre or Ethel Merman

No reality show people should get anything named after them. And I mean that in EVERY circumstance.
You all are acting like someone suggested a Carly Rae Jepsen Theatre. The usual petty nonsense form the board.
