In order to move back ton New York full-time. Just announced on her Twitter. Hopefully this means she'll be on the boards again soon. I say good for her--her character never really took off, and the show became a waste of her talents.
The show is absolutely terrible, but it's nice she had a good paycheck for a while. We'll see what she decides to do next, hopefully it will involve theatre.
According to this article on aol.com...Audra's heading back to Broadway...
"Sources tell BlackVoices.com that the four-time Tony Award winner will be starring in the upcoming revival of the famous Broadway musical 'Porgy & Bess.'
A rep for the show confirmed the news."
Off Duty: Audra McDonald Leaving 'Private Practice'
She was barely on the show at all this season, and for storyline reasons I'm sure her departure will be good for Addison.
And she's headed back to the stage! (...hopefully!)

Presuming this production doesn't fall flat on its face - this role just *screams* Tony Award for best actress, presuming a transfer. (Whew...lot of presuming going on here.)

At least it is not another Guys & Dolls or Hello Dolly revival.

Aww, that's bittersweet news. I like her a lot, but they haven't given her terribly great storylines, and she's just sort of been..."there," this season. But she is an amazing talent, and I'm sure she'll be welcomed back to Broadway with open arms!
On another note: speaking of Private Practice and certain people, well, being absent: where the heck has Amy Brenneman been? The last few episodes, they added some dialogue briefly in the beginning of the show to state that the character had some reason to be gone.
But last night...there's Pete, there's Naomi, there's Addison...and no mention of their wife/friend/friend, respectively. And with all the "mom suicide" and "Charlotte-recovering-from-rape" going on last night, it was prime material for which the resident emotional psychiatrist could have intervened. Is the actress on medical leave, or some other extended issue? Haven't read or heard anything of the kind (though I may be late to the party, if something was publicized earlier). Her presence is missed.

She was out of 4x12 and 4x13 because of a medical issue; she'll be back next week in 4x14. She's pretty active on her Twitter account; that's where I cobbled that info together from.

Really? I love Amy Brenneman the actress, but I cannot stand Violet.
/sorry, threadjacking over, carry on.
