she played mim, i thought she was maureen? at least that's the role i saw her perform in November

She is Maureen. She was originally a swing when she first joined the broadway cast.

When she first became full time Maureen, she still understudied Mimi (and I think she went on at least once or twice). I'm not sure if she's still a Mimi understudy though.

She IS listed as the Mimi understudy, but they have Karmine and Moeisha, so I guess it's really just an extreme emergency case.

she is definately still a Mimi understudy...I would agree that it's probably an extreme case type thing...but she does do understudy rehearsals as Mimi.

Ava has been back since the beginning of April. She's doing fabulous. looks very healthy and tan. I'm not too fond of her Maureen but its still great to have her back.

My dad thinks she is better as Maureen then Idina but I begg to differ.

umm...Caren isn't in Rent thats for sure. Laying low, enjoying married life. I have no idea. She was seen on Monday at Cipriani's. haha

and to the poster above me. have you SEEN Idina as Maureen (Live might I add) to judge her perfection? you do realize Idina isn't god. There probably are far better Maureens then her. but yea since she is the original she has some divine power. But Ava isn't better than Idina, but there are ones that can be.

I've seen Ava as Maureen twice...and her performance was definitely nothing special.

And I was just about to ask the same question. What are you comparing her to? Idina in the movie?

I saw Ava as an understudy back in July--she had an amazing voice, but we had a horrible audience. I felt embarassed for her in Over The Moon.

I saw Ava as Mimi in November(the week before the movie opened). I thought she did a great job, espeically with Out Tonight.

giving my 2 cents on Idina being the best maureen.. she's definately not. She's 2nd best hehehe.. I saw her a bunch of times when the OBC wonders were there and I still stand up that Kristen lee Kelly is the BEST maureen.

I loved Christina Fadale, I think she is my favorite Maureen.

Amy Erlich was the absolute worst, followed by Caryn Lynn Manuel.

I found Ava Gaudet to be suitable - not wonderful, not terrible.
