Available Theatres/Incoming Shows

I know there are posts about What's Next at the Imperial and the Jacobs. But I thought it might be easier to gather up the available theaters and see what shows are projected to be coming in.



Right now, confirmed without announced theaters, there's Carousel and The Minutes. And then heavily rumored are Angels in America, Dreamgirls, and Mean Girls.



And for sure available by Spring are the Imperial, the Jacobs, the Kerr, the Broadway, the Golden, and the Neil Simon. And while I am not rooting for either Groundhog Day or War Paint to close (both of which I greatly enjoyed), the recent grosses suggest that the Nederlander and the August Wilson could be in play.



That's a lot more theaters than shows by my estimation. Is there a lot more coming that I'm forgetting, or might there be a lot of Spring surprises?

Walter Kerr Theater is taken up for 8 weeks in the fall with Springsteen on Broadway

I don't agree that the Shubert could "feasibly open up." That's too big a show to close when Bette leaves and I have a really hard time believing they're not going to get a big name even if it's not immediately when Bette leaves. The others are all definite possibilities though.

I only meant it in the sense that we currently have no concrete idea what's happening to that show after January 14. I too would be very surprised if they end up closing shop then, but as of now, it could happen. But we'll have to wait and see!

According to the official website for M. Butterfly, it's currently scheduled to run through February 25th.

The Cort should be able to fit in a spring show right at the end. The Belasco...that's iffy.

The Hudson is owner by ATG theatres I believe.. and Dreamgirls producer Sonia Friedman has strong ties to them..so it's not unusual at all.

In that case, yup, the Cort, Hudson, and Belasco miiiiight be able to squeeze in another show in the Spring depending on Tony cut-off.



The rumors I've heard are Angels going into the Simon and Dreamgirls into the Hudson (which make NO sense to me, but it's the rumor I heard). Regardless, I feel like this season has less rumored shows coming AND more available or potentially available open theatres than last season. Will be very curious to see how it shakes out!
