2026 Post-Tony Closures and Successors Jun 5 2026, 10:56:16 AM
You always have these "sources" in the grosses threads and they are usually premature at best or straight up wrong at worst. Most recent was your Beaches closing date statements. Obviously it was in trouble and did close but like many other times before, your date was earlier than what actually happened.
Obviously Two Strangers would be on shaky ground if it doesn't win Best Musical but I am not sure they would close that soon. Ditto for Titanique. No way in hell Cats is

2026 Tony Awards Performance Predictions (or What Songs They Should and Will Perform) Jun 4 2026, 08:59:41 PM
HaveAGoodShow said: "For me, it doesn't matter how the shows perform. I think what's more important is that the director is up to the task of shooting these production numbers in a way that fully honors and captures the performers onstage while also enhancing the energy and excitement that each show brings."
Amen to that. The filming has gotten increasingly bad at the Tonys. The show had a better look in the 90s that it does today for most production numbers

Final Tony Predictions in All Categories Jun 3 2026, 10:33:41 PM
I didn't predict this but I think there could be a world where Schmigadoon wins Best Musical and nothing else, which would be unprecedented I believe? (I didn't actually check though...)

Final Tony Predictions in All Categories Jun 3 2026, 05:00:55 PM
Whew, there were a lot of tough ones this year to predict. We'll see how it goes...
Best Musical: Schmigadoon! Best Play: Liberation Revival of a Musical: Cats: The Jellicle Ball Revival of a Play: Death of a Salesman
Lead Actor in a Musical: Joshua Henry, Ragtime Lead Actress in a

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/31/26 Jun 2 2026, 04:33:14 PM
Not a great week overall.
Every Brilliant Thing still real solid with Mariska.
Celebrity Autobiography reminds me of those megabombs you would see back in the 80s and 90s.
Interesting how much Dog Day has fallen off. That and the rise of Salesman over the same month or two can show the impact of reviews and awards even for starry plays.

MORMON Tony Performance May 28 2026, 12:30:04 AM
Zeppie2022 said: "macbeth said: "I have so many questions. Are they doing "Hello!" because it's the most recognizable? "I Believe"? A medley?
Honestly with this season's musicals being kind of all over the place quality-wise, a polished BOM number could be one of the best things on the broadcast."
"Hello" is what they opened the Tony award ceremony with many years ago, so I bet they do it again 15 years la

I really hope so…maybe that could go into the Majestic"
Working Girl going to the Majestic feels like as good an idea as Beaches going there (not saying it's as bad a show as Beaches but I think it would really struggle to fill that space).
I definitely think Tveit will go back to Mo

We officially have every theatre running a show at the moment. I didn't look back but not sure when the last time that happened was, if ever?
Of course this is until Beaches closes :)

DEATH BECOMES HER To Close on Broadway June 28, 2026 May 18 2026, 11:50:00 AM
I said this is one of the grosses threads awhile back but I just think this is about the high end of a length of run you can expect for a show like this. It was never going to run for years and years. It's a niche movie with a show that very much appeals to NYC Broadway fans but isn't going to hit mainstream appeal like the shows that have played forever. It also wasn't going to capture the youth zeitgeist/Tik Tok crowd in ways that shows like Hadestown and Dear Evan Hansen did. S

Babies crying in theaters May 16 2026, 06:21:09 PM
PabloJuan said: "I don’t know much about children. For those of you who have experience with kids, at what age would a child typically be able to sit quietly through a musical?"
It ranges quite a bit depending on the kid and the show. I have seen as young as 4 or 5 do well at a kid friendly show (not on Broadway) but that wouldn't be true for all 4/5 year olds for sure.
I think this is a way bigger problem at local theaters than Broadway or touring p

Putting it Together on The Late Show with Colbert May 14 2026, 10:13:23 PM
I didn't see Old Friends so I haven't seen Bernadette perform in awhile. She is looking and sounding great at 78 years old!! 25+ years older than any of the others up there and it didn't seem that way at all.

As for Every Brilliant Thing, any guesses how the box office numbers will go with Mariska Hargitay when Dan leaves? I know she has a big TV following ( my niece is a big SVU fan) but can she sustain those numbers?

I'm not sure she'll do Radcliffe numbers but I suspect she'll do quite well. It'

Simply insane for Chicago. My goodness. When they stunt cast well, they really stunt cast well. Same for Oh Mary.
I am betting Beaches closes by the end of May and Death Becomes Her by the end of June. Everything else will probably last through the summer if they are not limited runs.
It's always interesting to see reviews catch up with grosses. Like Dog Day is starting to look softer while Salesman is showing more strength.
The Lost Boys is showing hints of mom
