re: Avenue Q on the move

Really?
I'm still surprised they decided on closing it when it has done nothing but brilliant business its entire run.
If it transfers that will be fab.
Keep in mind that The Guilgud is where Cameron wants to put 'The Witches Of Eastwick' come September!

re: Avenue Q on the move

I'm not convinced, especially as the theatres have VERY similar capacities (just 17 seat difference) and the Guilgud is in fact the bigger of the two, if he wanted it to stay in London, why move it at all!

re: Avenue Q on the move

Calendar Girls has the Noel Coward- after posting closing, bookings shot up and they've had a change of heart, but it means a change of venue.

Doubt away if you like but I'm not known for making things up.

re: Avenue Q on the move

This is pretty cool, im glad its sticking around, though its high volume of recent sales will be to do with its closing as with most shows, i think they will struggle.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

D: But... but the Gielgud is my favourite play house. D: I love seeing the parade of plays that stomp backwards and forwards through it! I hated seeing it given over to comedy, and I *love* Bill Bailey! Oh pls no musical for my beloved Gielgud! D:

re: Avenue Q on the move

In the 70s and 80s this gorgeous house was home to 100s of musicals. Even into the 90s it was home to a few like 'Mama! I Want To Sing' 'Boyband' and the run of the new version of 'Tell Me On A Sunday'. It housed a spectacular flop with a musical called 'Valentines Day' in the mid 90s that was closed down after just 29 perfs- a kind of record for the West End that is only seen on Broadway.
I will always remember the sight of the building being covered in the advertising for the run of 'Shopping And F*CKing'- that brought many a smile to passers by!
