Saw the last two performances in Tornoto of Ave Q yesterday. It goes to Denver now. It was a FANTASTIC experience. This made the 4th and 5th times I have seen the tour. The cast could not be better and I think should be taken en mass to the Broadway production. Rob McClure as Princeton/Rod is MAGNIFICENT!!!! There really are not words to adequatly describe his performance. He has the "star quality" that is not often seen. The whole cast is terrific. Anika Larson has grown so much as Kate/Lucy from the first time I saw her. In her hands (no pun intended) Lucy is sexy beyond words and Kate can be heartbreaking. David Benoit is the perfect Trekkie, Nicky and boy Bear. Angela Ai is the perfect Christmas Eve hitting every single laugh on target and her "If You Ruv Someone" is a riot. Maggie Lakis shines as Mrs. T., girl Bear and half of Terkkie and Nicky. When she takes ove manipulating Lucy, all her movements are really sexy.
The tour goes on until next May. If it plays near you DON'T MISS IT. I had to travel 100 miles each was to see it and would gladly do it over and over again.
I saw it not too long ago when it came to Dallas, and I thought it was a great cast as well. I was pleasantly surprised how well they could all sing and make the roles their own. Definitely worth seeing.

I completely agree. I saw the show twice in Toronto and was very impressed by the cast. I had Cullen R. Titmas as an understudy both times, one as Brian and the second time as Nicky, Trekkie, and Bear. He was great the second time as Nicky, I think the part fit him a lot better. That being said, I did miss David Benoit who was PERFECT. Rob McClure, Anika Larson, Maggie Lakis were all fantastic as well, no complaints here. Special mention should definitely go to Angela Ai and Danielle K Thomas who both have perfect comedic timing and stole the show. Fantastic cast. Would see them all again in an instant!
Glad you enjoyed the show. Saw it back in February and loved it! I agree, Rob McClure is great and very nice at the stage door.

I saw it here in Tampa and will see it again at Ruth Eckerd Hall in December. The cast is so much fun. I was in the mezzanine last time and now have 6th row tickets. Can't wait to see them close up...

Is JED still in the Ensamble?
How has he been?
I saw it a few times in Boston. I love Robert McClure, he is such a sweetheart and does great in the role. I forget the actress' name who played Kate/Lucy, Kelly maybe? She was amazing as well.
And I wish I got to see Maggie go on!

"Is JED still in the Ensamble?

According to the Toronto program, he was only in the ensemble until August 10. I saw the show the night of the 10th, and the only time you ever saw him was up in the balcony during "The Money Song." So I don't really have much of an opinion of his 30-second performance... But he was super sweet at the after-party and he said that he had lots of fun doing the show.

JED was listed in the program for the final performances as being in the show. He is not listed only until August 10th as he was earlier in the run. One of the reasons he was listed only until the 10th earlier was that Seth Rettberg had been out doing a show in Oklahoma and he returned on the 10th. Now both are listed with no exception dates.

I saw the show twice here in Louisville (opening and closing shows) and I just wanted to say how much I looooved Angela Ai.
Sidnote: I think she's in the Broadway cast now, but has anyone seen Minglie Chen play Christmas Eve? I got to see her in her normal roles on tour (Mrs. T/Bad News Bear) as well as Kate/Lucy and she was so adorable.

I was at the final Toronto show as well and thought the cast was just fantastic. I saw it earlier in its Toronto run, and after the show, I wished I had seen it at least once more, but oh well! The entire cast is just incredible.
