I'm finally going to see "Avenue Q" next Saturday at the matinee--I used to live near NYC (I now live upstate, so get back less frequently) but it seemed that there was always something I wanted to see just a bit more. But now I'm going, and I was wondering if anyone has seen it recently. How is the current cast? Is there anyone in particular who really stands out? Is the production still sharp?
I haven't seen thew hole cast that is in the show now, but Howie Michel Smith (Princeton, Rod), is terrific. Ann Sanders (Christimas Eve), wonderful. Christian Andersen (Nicky, Trekkie Monster), is amazing! Jennifer Barnhart (Ms. T Bear), is always great (although I think she left or something). But other than that I haven't seen other members of the current cast.
Carey Anderson is wonderful as Kate/Lucy. Enjoy!!

Thank you. I will have to see it before then since I absolutely love Carey :)
I plan to do the same. She is amazing!
The current cast is awesome, you will not be disappointed. Hope you love the show!
Jennifer Barnhart was still in it when I saw it again a couple of weeks ago. I thought the current cast was excellent and the show as a whole is still really good. The person I went with hadn't seen it before and loved it. Have fun.
Thanks, everyone! It sounds great. I can't wait!

After seeing the tour 5 times, I am going to see the Broadway version in Dec. I hope Romano is out of it by then or I might see another show instead. I don't care for stunt casting.
I don't know how Romano will fare as Kate/Lucy, but she is hardly stunt casting.
The Girl who plays Kate Monster/Lucy is good at Lucy but I've never wanted to tell someone to get off the stage so bad as when she was doing her most annoying Kate Monster voice. And I've seen Stephanie and Mary, so no it is not supposed to be that unbearable to listen to. She also needs a LOT of diction work. Every word that ended in "D" she would add a "T." For example, she said pretent instead of pretend in Fine Fine Line.

If you are in "upstate New York" (I hate that term, in Buffalo we are in WESTERN NEW YORK)and are near Schenectady. the tour will [play there Jan 20 to 25. You could not see a better cast than the tour.
Christian Anderson and Howie Micheal Smith are fantastic, they're enough reason to see the current production
Christian Anderson? since when?
Matt Schreiber has been doing it for over a month now.
just_john - what show were you watching?? i absolutely LOVED carey. she was great.
Carla (Gary Coleman) was rather unimpressive but, vocally, sounded great.
also loved Howie and Ann.
didn't care much for Nicholas Kohn (Brian).

On the web site, Christian Anderson is listed as the prinary and Matt Schreuber as the understudy.
I understand that a lot of times the website for a show isn't as up to date as it could be. But, I saw the show less then a month ago and Christian Anderson was in the show.
Christian was in the show yesterday. He's great.
saw it Aug. 18th and Christian wasn't even in the playbill....
Weird. I saw it 8/10 and 9/14 and he was in the show and Playbill on both dates.
