i remember prior to seeing the hasselhoff version of jeckyll and hyde (i was young, it was closing soon- and pay-per-view is cheaper than broadway) i couldn't imagine why people disliked it so much on broadway (i being yopung and naive had no clue that the warlow version wasn't identical to the b'way version)
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

Do you think that had the Warlow version never come out, people would have like the OBC (ending with Hasselhoff)?
I think the orchestrations on the OBCR seem better than the Warlow concept...
Mister Matt, did you see the Warlow version? Was it staged with Warlow? Then completely changed?

Warlow actually never performed the show. He only did the Concept recording. He refuses to leave Australia to come to America to be on broadway. But, to have his performance on DVD instead of Hasselhoff would have been the greatest thing ever.

Did they ever perform the concept version?

I think they did a version very similar but I don't know if they did every single song in the Complete recording

I was listening to this is the moment and alive on the obc and the concept (anthony warlow)....
I think Robert does a better job changing from Jekyll to Hyde..he sounds completely different...Anthony warlow, while he has an amazing voice, doesn't seem to make that change as well...

Are you serious? Listen to "Confrontation." It sounds like two completely different people.

Yeah, I like Robert a lot but I think the Warlow has a great distinction between Jekyll and Hyde (I came up with this decision before I even knew who Warlow was). Warlow's Hyde is SOOOO much darker. But Robert is great too

I have to say that I like Robert's Alive much better and his confrontation is amazing.
I can't wait to hear Warlow...Can't wait to buy the full recording...

The national pre b-way tour, was sooooooooo much better then the b-way one. The show looked and sounded better, Bring on the men was right for the show, it's a bawdy tavern song . g&e sounds like it was put in last minute, and really does'nt fit in the show.

tii true...
the song is cool, or would be cool, if a singer did it at like Joe's pub or something...
that scene reminds me of "It's All the Same" from MoLM

I have my own version of the script that I'm working on. at the moment I have act one written out on the page but it's so rough it's practically unreadable. It's mostly a combination of the Broadway Tour version and the book of one of the previous tours with various elements of the concept CD and Broadway version pulled into it. act two is only mapped out. not yet written on the page, but I do have a song list of the whole thing if anyone is interested.

I dont remember ever seeing The Girls of the Night in the show? Where the heck was I?
I have seen this show WAY too many times and I dont ever remember it except on the double preview cd.
I did love Bring on the Men MUCH better then Good and Evil.
but I do adore this show. It was where I fell madly in love with a little singer by the name of Linda Eder.

Hmmm...I've only have the original OBC recording but I've heard a couple of songs from the concept album. "Facade" happens to be my favorite song in all of broadway, if you really listen to the lyrics, they're just so true. I actually can't decide which version of the song I like better. I think just to listen to, the sound of it, I like the concept album better, but as far as the actual lyrics of the song I like the Broadway one better.
Other favorites from the CD include "Take Me As I Am"(just sounds so incredibly powerful and I like the message), "This Is the Moment(kinda cheeky but I really like the sound of Robert on this), and "His Eyes"(again, just listening to both their voices this song is AMAZING and it's just a nice song, one of my friends who doesn't like broadway loooves this song so that's cool).
Again, never really heard Anthony Warlow, but I really do like Robert's voice. I think all three leads on the OBC are great.

I too think "Bring on the Men" is much better an more appropriate than "Good 'N' Evil". Like someone else said, "BOTM" fits more with the character of Lucy than "GNE" Furthermore, it is a fun song to break up the action that takes place before and after it - it is a true showstopper. "GNE" does overkill on the good and evil theme - we get it already. Plus, it's not very entertaining, and why would Lucy sing this? It was the worst decision they made for Broadway IMO, and the post-Broadway tour dumped "GNE" for "BOTM" and I was thrilled.
I too like the concept version of both "Facade" and "Alive" better. The concept "Facade" was more about class differences, whereas the Broadway "Facades" were more about good and evil - again overkill on the subject matter. Breaking up "Alive" into a song and reprise was also a mistake IMO. It was much more effective on the concept recording.
As I understand it, "The World Has Gone Insane" was never performed on stage. I too love it.
Anthony completely BLOWS Robert away in every single facet, IMO.
The concept recording is the way to go - absolutely.

I just can't resist the urge to slightly discuss my favorite song "Facade" further. I never really considered the differences in the subject matter in each difference, thank you for pointing it out, I still love both though. But one line that I absolutely love that appears in both is: "I'm inclined to think half man-kind thinks the other half is blind." Sometimes I just can't get over how true this is. It applies to many different things, though the one I think it most strongly connects to is conservatives and liberals, though you can also put it towards males and females, adults and children, etc. It's all about people's arrogance in believing that they are right and the other is wrong, and being unwilling to at least listen and respect the other person's opinion, even if they 100% disagree with it. Okay once again--great great song.

I concur! I must say I like the Broadway orchestrations better...but the lyrics in the concept are better.

I disagree with that. I MUCH prefer the Broadway lyrics to some of those awful concept lyrics... for example
concept:
No, there is no choice!
I must put aside the fears I feel inside
There's no place to hide.
So it comes to this
One last final chance that only I can take
Now everything I've fought for is at stake!
broadway:
Now there is no choice:
I must put aside
The fears I feel inside...
There's no place to hide!
So it comes to this:
One great golden chance
That only I can take,
When everything I fought for
Is at stake!...
To make the mark
That only I can make!
or
concept:
This is the moment,
This is the day,
This is the moment
when I know I'm on my way.
Every endeavour,
I have made ever,
Is coming into play,
Is here and now today.
This is the moment,
This is the time,
When the momentum
And the moment are in rhyme!
Give me this moment
This momentous moment.
I'll gather up my past
And make some sense at last!
broadway:
This is the moment!
This is the day,
When I send all my doubts and demons
On their way!
Every endeavor,
I have made - ever -
Is coming into play,
Is here and now - today!
This is the moment,
This is the time,
When the momentum and the moment
Are in rhyme!
Give me this moment -
This precious chance -
I'll gather up my past
And make some sense at last!
last one...
concept:
LUCY:
I feel your fingers-
Brushing my shoulder-
Your tempting touch,
As it tingles my spine-
Watching your eyes
As they invade my soul-
Forbidden pleasures
I'm afraid to make mine.
At the touch of your hand-
At the sound of your voice-
At the moment your eyes meet mine-
I am out of my mind-
I am out of control-
Full of feelings I can't define!
HYDE:
It's a sin with no name-
Like a tiger to tame
And my senses proclaim
It's a dangerous game!
broadway:
LUCY:
I feel your fingers -
Cold on my shoulder -
Your chilling touch,
As it runs down my spine -
Watching your eyes
As they invade my soul -
