Loge, that's funny as far as "Facade" goes I feel the opposite-listening to the song separate from the show-I actually prefer to the lyrics from the Broadway one and the orchestrations/just general sound of the concept one. Oh well, I still love both versions!
And Cats, just one bit I noticed, even though I agree that I prefer the This is the Moment from the OBCR, I think the This Is The Moment from the concept is more well known. I actually sang(a solo-ironic since my love affair with broadway didn't start) for my 6th grade graduation and we sang the concept version and as I've heard it for olympics and stuff, that's the concept version too.

I saw this topic, and I was like 8-0! Someone JUST burned the Anthony Warlow CD of this for me on Monday (and this is currently the ONLY J&H CD I have)! I LOVE IT!
Hmmm.... favorites.... well, I've only had one complete listen through. And all of the amazing solos of Anthony Warlow (who is CERTAINLY a GOD... this recording PROVES IT) tend to run together for me ('cause, like I said, I've only heard all of it it once), so yeah.
Facade
Bring on the Men
This is the Moment
Alive
Confrontation
I'm soon that list will change and evolve as I listen to it more.

I like the Confrontation on the OBC better (as far as lyrics go)
...Maybe not, the more I listen to it...
And why does "Hyde" laugh while Jekyll is singing in Confrontation on the concept? That just ruins it for me...

very poorly. all they did was change the spot to a blue hue when Hyde sang. tours and regional have faired better using smoke, mirrors and different lighting effects. Although at one point for one the of the pre Broadway tours I believe Hyde was a green laser projected head... eee...

I think it would be cool to have a stand in behind the mirror and appear very foggy throughout the whole scene...foggy enough you can tell it's Hyde but you can't see the mouth moving....(a la Wicked and Phantom of the Opera)

In the pre-Broadway tour, Hyde was not a green laser head (at least not in the two tours I saw). It was a film projection of Robert Cuccioli singing as Hyde that was projected on the mirror and timed with the orchestra. It was a fantastic and very creepy effect. At the end of the song, Jekyll smashes the mirror. In the original production, a two-way mirror was used with a second actor as Hyde. It was pretty cool, but the difference between the two actors was far too obvious, expecially after a full evening of one actor playing both roles until that point. It just couldn't work well.

I like the film idea....
Esp if you make it foggy enough that you can see the mouth perfectly....then the real actor can sing....

The projection was one of the many moments in the show that were absolutely spine-tingling before they restaged for Broadway and removed all the most effective staging. The absolutel scariest moment in the show was when Hyde reappeared in Lucy's bedroom before her murder. From that moment until her death was absolutely terrifying. You could literally hear gasps from the audience.

I wish I could have seen it.
Who was the original director? Or was it the same as Bway?

I believe it was Gregory Boyd, but Pati would know for sure.

So my CD finally came!
I love it - so much better than the OBC.
I love the music and love getting to here more of it.
Everyone is great. The only problem is Anthony Warlow's Hyde. It sounds a lot like his Jekyll - esp. compared to Rob Cuccioli's Hyde (vs Jekyll).
Also, Alive is so much slower...meh
But I still love it!

The concept recording is different than the Complete recording, which is different than the OBC.
The concept recording is only Linda Eder and Colm Wilkinson, and they only sing a certain amount of numbers from the show, some of which were cut.
The complete recording was recorded while the show was touring, which, technically was the Original Cast Recording.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive.
"Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot."
"No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one."
Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I have no clue what CD I have, but I love it. My friend burned it for me and it's great.
I looooove Lucy's song "Heaven and Hell". Such a fun song.

I love "Good and Evil" - I'll have to get this recording....
I personally think the score is beautiful. And I wanted to do "Facade" in my musical theater class years ago...but they wouldn't let me.

the script version I'm working on is nearly complete. Erica and I have been working like mad. act one is pretty much finished. the version of act two that is on line is not yet up to date with the newest revised version that we're working on but the script as it is now is about 85% of what we had in our minds when we started to work on the project. it's constantly evolving. constructive criticism is a must!

I love Anthony Warlow in almost anything he does (almost... sorry "The Secret Garden" still sucked), and he absolutely was frigging brilliant in "Jekyl and Hyde" I couldn't get enough of him.
Then I saw the David Hasselhoff version. That was enough to turn me off the entire show for a long time. You know you are for a bad time when Hasselhoff is the best singer in the show. Nothing against Coleen Sexton & Andrea Rivette, I have not scene them in anything else, so I can hope they where just having a bad day with J&H, but seriously in J&H they where pretty awful, no force and trying way to hard to channel Bernadette.
Anyhoo. I love the Concept Album, and being in Australia I get to see Anthony Warlow easily enough in anything (well when he does something of course).
