So, anyway, a while back people were sharing their girl crushes, so I thought I'd share mine. Check the icon. My first and only girl crush. Love ya bunches!
I'm your first girl crush AND you gave up your John icon. Oh my stars, I may have to sit down for this!
Ummmm...not sure if you know Mr.Man, but she is my wife! Step back Mista Sista! LOL....
No need to fight boys, as my pic will attest to, there's waaaaaay more than enough of me to go around.
ETA: Congrats on the rave Steve, but even more congrats on being critical enough to see what you perceive as weaknesses to make it even better.

The thing about the review is that the critic wasn't being mean. I realize that we have a very weird structure to our musical -- and I know, since I write southern tinged music, that some people just won't relate to my style. Plus, my songs are not traditional theatre songs. But this reviewer was wanting to like it so much, it made me think, "There is a way to make this better. If so, then I should go back to work and make it better." I saw where I was perhaps less clever and too generic. The magic of great theatre writing is SPECIFICITY.
And besides, I was looking for a good excuse to get in under the hood and tinker. This was the perfect inspiration. And now this song really rocks.
Just playing 13--I need a bf on the side anyway, so it can be a three person deal :)
Hello early morning crew!
Staying up til 4 for Michael??? Wow, and I thought I was bad! :-P
Steve, you and Jimmy deserve every rave review you receive! Congratulations!

I've had to teach myself over time that drafting is actually a good thing. When I was younger I was a very impatient writer. Things would pop into my mind and I'd just be in such a hurry to get the first draft out of my system figuring that inspiration had struck and I just had to run with it, that I often never looked at it again. I assumed there was nothing more I could do with whatever I happened to be working on at the moment, that it was as good as it was going to get. It took a lot of discipline and maturing to understand that often someone else's judgment was critical to really making something work. If I expect that other people are going to read (or in your case hear) something that I've written I had to take into account that they don't live in my brain, they can't relate to that moment I sat down and wrote it; it almost has to work for them more than for myself. It also helps to step away and revisit what you've written with a different perspective that's not so focused on the harried process of just getting it out of your system and that's able to let go of what was deeply personal to start with.
I think this is why I'm especially critical of shows because in that situation I'm the other set of eyes, it's not my personal writer's voice speaking up on that stage so I don't own the same amount of emotional investment. Given how many drafts and revisions a show like Bare has been through based on what works and what doesn't, it delights me that something about it continued to shine from conception despite going through the drudgery of constant tinkering.
And besides, I was looking for a good excuse to get in under the hood and tinker. This was the perfect inspiration. And now this song really rocks.
Of course you'll have to come back to NY so we can all hear it!
I know....I will be in a GREAT mood later...and this is after working a 12 hour day from hell yesterday!
Oh God, have you been a nightmare all day? :P

Sooo cute! I should make an icon of Trisky too since she's my BFF and all!
*searches for pics of us together* :)
BWW finally reviewed BIG VOICE and give it a rave, but she didn't much like my lyrics. So, rather than bitch, I decided to take another look at some of my songs and see if I can make them better.
So glad for the well deserved rave Steve and I thought the show was perfect as is. I thought the songs were beautiful! :)
Wifey....are you stepping out on me?
See. And you've been calling me the hussy all along! :P
Staying up til 4 for Michael??? Wow, and I thought I was bad! :-P

So, who's keeping me company tonight online to keep me from falling asleep?! :)

Won't be on tonight... big drag party at the Monster :) (Still haven't figured out what to wear)
I'm not promising anything, but I'm going to make an attempt to stay up 'til 4.
Okay, this isn't really Bare related, but it kinda sorta in a weird six degrees of Kevin Bacon type way...I work for the education department of my college, and today I had to work this seminar on literacy. They were selling these books geared towards young kids, for all the elementary teachers to buy and put in their classrooms. So, I was looking through the selection, and had to buy this one book. It was called "Kid Blink Beats The World." Ummmm. It's about the Newsboys strike of 1899. You know, the strike that inspired the movie Newsies. Kid Blink is one of the main newsies in the movie. Also discussed in this children's book is Racetrack (played by Max Casella). Sadly, no Mush mention. But still. A Newsies-ish kids book! LoL.

Go ahead and laugh, it's all right. You didn't REALLY want me in the city anytime soon, did you?
So, who's keeping me company tonight online to keep me from falling asleep?!
How late we talking? I'm thinking bout a "late night" for me! :-P

I might get up for it, but I ain't staying up all night. I'll definitely be listening to Jim Caruso's Cast Party tonight, though.
edit: I'm not going out tonight so I can stay home and listen to an internet radio broadcast...that's kinda sad, no?

And yet Michael still does nothing for you!?

Nope, nothing. I think he's phenomenally talented, but I'm not the least bit attracted to him. I'll definitely buy his album, but I don't want to snuggle up to him or anything like that. If I lived in NYC, I'd be right there nexst to you at every performance he gave, cause I could listen to him sing for hours and never get tired, but he just doesn't give me that warm, tingly feeling deep in my...well, you know.
13, I just want to say that you have become successful at getting me majorly confused! I will probably always think you are Trisky now. Thank you!
Mes and I will definetly be in it for the long haul tonight, after all she did stay up last night waiting for it so I guess since I don't work tommorrow I should stay up too tonight. I am going to run out for a bit, but will for sure be back for cast party at 8, and then probably online until after the 4 am radio show, this is getting really sad, but hey for Michael it is worth it!!!

2day...confused? No! Say it ain't so! Again, it's a good thing you're cute...

Aaw, don't. I only kid. I kid, because I love. Really. I swear.
As for the TriskyCrush icon, it's temporary. Much as I love Trisky, I gotta keep John as my icon. He will be back.

Okay, listening to the Damon interview from SiriusOutQ, and hearing Damon and Michael Arden discuss the shaving of the testicles and baby-powdering the freshly-shaved testicles and butt cheeks is just tres bizarre. Now I wish I could hear the interview where Michael was discussing getting to the top by staying on the bottom.
I literally just ran through the supermarket throwing things in the cart (went to get a couple of things, walked out with $94 worth of crap, WTF?) to get home for 8:00. So of course there's a delay. @$%&!
On the other hand, please see Rob's blog for confirmation of Michael's album.

And Rob is definitely a hot Jew who definitely deserves a girlfriend.
Soooo funny Trisky, I literally did the same thing, only I went out to dinner, practically did not get to finish, left early before everyone else, drove way too fast to get home, only to come home, freak out cuz I thought I was doing something wrong and didn't know how to listen to cast party, only then to find out that it was delayed!!! Way my luck sucks sooo bad sometimes I will never know????
