BMG Music- 7 Free Cast Recordings!

Hi everyone, I don't know if any of you guys know about it, but there is a site called BMG Music- it's perfectly legal, blah blah blah. They advertise that you can get "12 CD's for the price of 1"! First you get 7 free CD's, then in the next year you have to buy one CD, then you get 4 more free CD's. I used it last night, and I think it's really worth it. They have a fairly good selection of cast recordings, and if you don't want cast recordings, lots of other music too.
If you guys have any questions, just ask me, but I thought I'd just let you guys in on this pretty good deal

1) This is probably a stupid question, but there's nothing gimmicky about the discs themselves or the inserts enclosed with them, right? I mean these are the VERY same CDs one would purchase from a retailer like Virgin or Amazon?

2) What are the shipping rates like? Is that where they get you?

I just realized that they only ship to the states, anyone know I site that offers around that same deal but ships internationally?

I'm curious too, but I've always just thrown out the mailers they send out from time-to-time. If the CDs are exactly like the ones I'd get in a store, and they don't slam you with exorbitant S&H fees, I just may sign up. Hell, I buy enough CDs anyway to fulfill the quota!

They really nail you on the shipping. I used to be a member, and with the shipping, it came out to be about 6 bucks a CD (if I'm remembering correctly).

The CDs are not actually free at all, but you do end up saving a few bucks in the long run. That is, if you were actually going to buy all 12 CDs from a record store in the first place. If you get even 2 CDs that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise, you wind up losing money.

But yes, the CDs are perfectly normal and everything.

The Cd's are essentially the same as commercial releases except they have different catalogue numbers (to prenet storees from returning these for full credit.) Yes, you get full booklets and all.

Shipping/handling charges are a bit steep and the regular prices are high.

There was a Canadian branch about 5 years ago but they closed down. I got my initial 7 selections, purchased the 1 title but never got my 4 additional selections.

They do have quite a nice selection of cast recordings.

I've ordered quite a few on there.

It's been a few years since I've dealt with them, but if it matters to you, sometimes the CDs have different packaging than the regular editions. They are pressed especially for the club and often have a disclaimer on them that they are "Music Club Editions". The music is the same, they are not edited, but the CDs are not identitical.

And be careful with the featured selections. Every month they suggest a cd, and if you do not decline them, they mail them to you anyways and charge you. I have recieved and paid for a few CDs I haven't even opened because I didn't read the email they sent me. But other than that, I love this company. It also has some good deals. Sometimes if you buy one cd, you get unlimited 2.99 cds, other times they have free shipping, plus you get music points which lead up to more free cds.

And shipping is usually 2.99 per cd, which isn't the best, but if you buy CDs often, it ends up being worth it.

yeah, it was like 20 dollars for shipping of those 7 CD's, but i figured 1 CD usually runs me about 18 dollars, so its pretty well worth it!
