It's odd with all the talk of a Wicked film, all the casting ideas, I never see this in regards to "Book of Mormon" here on the boards. Or ever any talk in the media of a Book of Mormon movie. With the show finally discounting, it sorta seems like a no brainer; it seems now would be the time to start casting and at least think about scheduling principal photography...it would seem to have a strong crossover audience. But nary a word. There was talk I remember, four or five years ago, Stone and Parker reported set up a production company specifically for the film, but nothing since..
It would be fun if they did it similarly to Team America. If not, my top choice for elder Cunningham is Bo Burnham

I seem to remember a few years back they had sold the film rights but it had like a 5 year clause or something before they were allowed to make it x

Honestly, with the way Matt and Trey like to play around with film making styles I'd love to see them tackle this as a traditional, hand-drawn animated feature. There are a few folks who've created some animatics out there on Youtube and it would have some amazing potential in that style. Plus, you could bring original cast members back to do the voices.

I love Bo but I think he's a bit old for any of the Mormons (then again Andrew was in his 30s so they might want an older actor for those parts, just I don't think it's strange tho to get age appropriate Mormons). What I feel he would be great at is somewhere behind the scenes, like maybe directing if Matt and Trey want to give that to someone else.

One can get away with casting older actors on stage a lot easier than they can for film/TV, because most of the audience isn't looking at their features up close. I'm not saying they would never cast anyone older for a movie, as it does still occur (the casting of Glee is a good example), but just because most of the original BOM vast was quite a bit older than their characters doesn't mean Parker and Co. would want the same for a film.
I agree with others saying this would make a bomb-ass animated film.

I feel like she's too old to play the role in a live-action film, but if it were animated, I would love to hear Rebecca Naomi Jones play Nabulungi.
