Posted: 6/5/08 at 3:35pmI LOVED the Boca Raton number! The idea of it was one of the oldest cliches, but Sondheim made it work (at least to me)!

Posted: 6/5/08 at 4:36pmI'm just relieved its not actor-musicians, now I can actually see it. I'm just done with actor-musicians.

"I don't think it's Sondheim's best, but how could it be at his age?"
Are you f'ing kidding me? Some composers actually get BETTER with age and many write their BEST in their later years. That has to be one of the most idiotic excuses for a sub-par score I have ever heard.

Posted: 6/5/08 at 5:06pmI haven't heard anything yet, but I agree that Sondheim's worst is better that many people's best.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Posted: 6/5/08 at 7:40pmThis is a very much revised Bounce. The role Bernadette Peters is expected to play, the mother, has been expanded greatly.

Hooray...although Sondheim himself told me (rather, wrote me) this was happening. Hopefully the cast is solid and the score and book have improved, though I like the score very much.
Gosh, if The Visit and Bounce transfer next Spring will Sondheim win score or will his old friend John Kander (and the late Fred Ebb)? That's a toughie.

Posted: 6/5/08 at 11:35pmI thought someone mentioned that Peters' role was NOT in the Goodman production and that it was a role from WISE GUYS. Can anyone confirm/dispel this?
