Her expression looks identical to the one in the drawing to me.
And I love how they brought it to life.
"Yes, because the general populace will be able to selectively ignore the theatrical one sheet for the teaser poster. *eyeroll*"
And in a few weeks this poster will be replaced by character banners of the entire cast. Boo hoo.

I'm too busy cracking up to CHILDREN OF THE CORN X: DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SCREAM?
I do like it, though. We'll see what comes out next. I wish I still worked for a movie theater, as I was able to take home a ton of posters.
i think the poster is stunning. her eyes stand out from the rest and i like the way they have brought the character to life to look like the musical poster. you would think she is the younger version of amanda seyfried which was inspired casting.

It is a nice idea for those of us who get the reference, but I too think it looks like a poster for a demon child flick. It is a nice image, great for the fans, but fails to give the general public the right idea. Swing and a miss.

I don't see the difference.HAHA
Frankly, neither do I.
I think it's really rather beautiful, and a clever concept to bring that little girl we all know to life after so many years. Presumably this is the first of character one-sheets.
I love it. One film poster I'll probably buy.

I like the overall image, but I'd tone down the eye color to avoid demon comparisons.
I think her bright blue eyes suppose to represent the glimmer of hope while living in the dark, poor streets of France.
I can understand why some of you think it looks "demon child/children of the corn", but geez, it's like you can't really make a live-action photograph based on the iconic logo without it looking like a horror movie...
Nowadays, people look at a picture of kid with a smile on his face and a lollipop in his hand and people yell "DAMIEN! DAMIEN! Child of the devil!"
Relax people....you've seen too many killer kid movies.
I think the poster looks beautiful, yet haunting. You have to understand that living in poverty, especially in the 1800's, was like living in hell. Kids with their dirty clothes and stringy hair looked like the girl on that poster. Do you think poor kids look like little scary demons?
Yes, you're right, I think poor kids look like demons. Because that is a totally sensible leap of logic to make. I also had no idea that living in poverty in 19th century France was rough. You're full of insight.
I think when you digitally enhance someone's eyes, airbrush their face, give them a vacant expression, and put a close up of their face on a poster, they fall into the uncanny valley.
Poverty has nothing whatsoever to do with it.
Do I sense a hint of sarcasm?
The Photoshop on this poster is not really the problem, since so far you're the only one here who's complaining about that. The thing is that she looks "evil" to some people. You think she has a vacant expression on her face, but to others they think she looks like she's gonna kill someone.....that's just plain ol' over-exaggeration. She doesn't look a possessed girl from the Exorcist. Just a poor girl with messy girl. I'm pretty sure if it was a poor, helpless Fantine instead of a poor Cosette, people wouldn't go "Demon!! Demon!!".
I'm telling you man, it's those killer kid movies. They ruin people....

Brilliant. They did an incredible job going between the two mediums of Film and Stage.
If gave they Anne Hathaway the same treatment, it'd be just as creepy to me. Sorry.
You people don't know creepy.
I used to refer to the logo as my "daughter."
Now THAT'S creepy. XD
(Me likey poster, btw)
This is honestly one of the best movie posters I've seen in ages.
I admit, when I first saw it I thought the text should say.
Fight. Dream. Hope. Love. Die.
Yea Kad! I don't forgive you for having a different opinion either!
Well, now life has killed the dream I dreamed.
does anyone else find it quite telling that they haven't released any footage or 'behind the scenes' featuring Russell Crowe singing???!?
