Helmed by Rob Ashford, it will go to Boston before transferring to New York in the spring.
Boston's getting a lot this year. First Oh, Kay!, and now this.
Apathetic about this one... it could either be very good, or pretty awful.
See it here!
Oh, Kay! shouldn't be put in the same category as this overdone ego project for Lerners' daughter. I saw her awful Camelot tour, yick! Oh, Kay! has a wonderful score and is in more than capable hands.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Some of the most beautiful music written for musical theater!
*Does little dance...or in this case, a jig*
I've always loved this Lerner & Loewe score. Really excited about a new production and quite intrigued to see what John Guare has done with the book.
yay! and Bostonians will be the first to see this show!!!
A spring 2009 Broadway arrival will follow a fall 2008 tryout in Boston.
EXPECT A FULL 10/10 REPORT from me- the 1st day with the whole nine yards....I heard another MUSICAL will be tried out here too!!!
Hopefully- We will have TWO musicals here!!!!

Brigadoon is one of my all-time favorites. A great score (not one bum song) and a romantic book.
The other MUSICAL coming to Boston is the Gershwin/Stroman musical with Harry Connick, Jr. What's the name of that show?

Sucks So Bad?
I'm Just Mild About Harry?
Harry Me A Little?
Not one bum song? What about "I'll Go Home with Bonnie Jean"?

OMG! Have you ever seen this show?????
When he keeps holding that high note at the end of each verse "I'LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Go home with Bonnie Jean!" Electrifying!
yay i'm glad Boston is getting some good out of town try outs!
Eh. That song does nothing for me. I guess that makes me plot. Or I could be character development. Either way, the song does nothing for me.

And what about the cute little rhyme scheme when he talks about meeting the girls "on the glen, at ten! I'll not be meeting her again, especially not on the glen at ten!"
Looks like it would go to the Colonial Theater. It has two open slots -one late summer and another early October.

I love Brigadoon.
I am exicited to see it back on Broadway soon. :]
Yup. The other one is Oh Kay!
Per Playbill
Harry Connick, Marshall Set for Gershwin Musical: Casting notices reveal that Harry Connick Jr. will star in Joe DiPietro's update of Gershwin's 1926 musical Oh, Kay!, directed by his Pajama Game helmer Kathleen Marshall. Scheduled to premiere in Boston this fall for a pre-Broadway tryout, the updated musical will feature classic Gershwin songs, while also adding scenes in which the lead plays the piano, talks about how much he loves New Orleans, and dates a callow young woman who can't emotionally separate from her sexless gay roommate. Oh my! Boston is back as Broadway premiere try-out town again!

Rob Ashford? John Guare? YES, PLEASE!!!
Can't wait....
Wonder if Benanti will be starring in this, she said recently that she wanted to play Fiona.
Anyone know who's producing?
Bob Boyett and his production company, Boyett-Ostar Productions, are producing.
It's not Bob Boyett. OSTAR is Bill Haber. Haber is producing it with Liza Lerner.

Oh, Kay is OK at best- especially with Harry Connick attached.
Aren't Boyett and Ostar partners?
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I could've sworn they work together...
well getting 2 out of town tryouts will certainly make up for the fact that Boston will have missed the mark when it comes to actual touring productions this season.
