Bad Girls The Musical

Hey folks

Does anyone know if there has been any talks of bringing the UK musical Bad Girls over to the US (maybe Off Broadway etc).A friend of mine who was involved n the UK production said that they were considering it but it's all gone very quiet

It did about 4 months and got very good reviews (some of them were out and out raves) but for some bizarre reason it just didn't find an audience.

I'd be surprised if it transfered, simply because very few people here in the states are at all familiar with Bad Girls the television show. Personally, I'd like a chance to see the show as I'm a fan of the tv show, but I don't think it would be able to mount a great deal of buzz or support to afford it a New York run.

I think the thing with the musical is you dont have to have seen the TV show (my partner had never seen it and he loved the show), in fact in some way i think that if it came in as a stand alone musical it would have a better chance.I think thats why it closed so early in London, people thought you would have had to have seen the TV show to get it.

Just the idea of a musical stage production that would require being familiar with a TV show to understand it ... that would spell death in my book. If it can't stand alone on stage, it can't stand on stage.

Thats what im saying...it doesn't, you dont need to know anything about the TV show to enjoy the stage show

No its based on the long running UK TV drama Bad Girls, a show set in a womans prison
