Exactly. And I was really looking forward to this. I like Jason George from Grey's and Barrett Doss of course.
But now...the wound is too fresh.

The timeline doesn’t really indicate that Oak had secured the TV show during the comet drama. Jason George’s casting announcement was made on September 12 and he was already part of Shondaland. Oak may have auditioned In July/ August but probably didn’t have an offer by then.

I've watched Grey's Anatomy from the beginning and followed Private Practice. But I won't be watching this, specifically because of Oak's participation.

I thought that would span to all forms of entertainment.. I guess I was wrong. Turns out you can scream at your director, treat your coworkers like garbage, not show up to work prepared, create a false controversy that hurts others just to fill up your own ego, and immediately get hired as a series regular on an ABC drama."
This is sound a lot like a certain Presidential campaign.

This is pretty hilarious actually. Shonda Rhimes has had no issue firing problematic people before so he better be on his best behavior.
Thrilled for Barrett....but um what is Oak doing there??
One big LOL to all my uptight citizens brigade homies. So perceptive, so aware, so sure.

I’m surprised on how much work Oak has been getting lately. He’s just an average performer in my opinion.
Hahahahaha. I am so happy for him! He's such a wonderful talent, and given Shonda's well-known intolerance for crap, I wonder if some of the **** talk about Oak has been . . . inaccurate. I'll be tuning in.
This really just makes me so mad.
I know getting cast in a show/series is mainly supposed to be based on talent, and though Oak may have a seed of it at most, I'm not shocked that Shonda is ignoring his behavior. It's likely because she shares his views on race that she's probably maybe even just hiring him as an F U to certain individuals. Or to use the word 'Hamilton' as a marketing tool even though he's the most forgettable cast member in that show.
Anyways, I won't be tuning in. I'm glad Barret is getting exciting work though!
Huh. I thought you guys said he'd never work again?

HogansHero, you called it correctly. The impact of Onaodowan's Great Comet misadventure turned out to be zero.
I wasn't sure if it would hurt him at all, and relitigating the whole thing in Forbes didn't seem like the smartest thing to do. But it didn't matter, and maybe his actions raised his profile a bit. Who knows? Maybe others blamed Howard Kagan, as you suggested, or as I suspect, the TV show's producers simply didn't care about some weird Broadway drama.
This thread is amazing.
Good for him.

TV casting happens a lot quicker than Broadway. He may have auditioned last week. I'm happy for him. He didn't close Comet. Audiences weren't interested in the show outside of Groban. And it's funny how you guys support Mandy who has been unprofessional for most of his career and literally held up an entire network TV show when he chose to just not show up one day.
Criminal Minds sucks. I don't blame Mandy for jumping ship on that sh*tshow. I'm happy he's on Homeland.
Also, Oak's on a Shondaland show, which means the first 5 episodes will be good and the rest will be a mess. He won't be doing Broadway ever again and he has a bigger hate club than a fan club at this point.

So when several episodes have been plotted out. Two scripts are done. An episode has gone through preproduction. You think it's ok that he just didn't show up? That's about the most unprofessional thing an actor can do. I was totally surprised he got cast in Homeland. I guess if you're a good actor, it doesn't matter what you say or do.

You are aware that Greys Anatomy is in its 14th season and filming their 300th episode now right ? Most of her shows do rather well actually. And if the show hits Oak will have no trouble getting an original broadway role, he will have the optimal mix of stage experience and star power. It wouldn't even matter if some theatre people dislike him, TV fan bases easily fill houses on their own.

And he'll have a huge fan club after just a few episodes. His hate club will be nothing by comparison. And like I said, if Mandy can get hired again on TV, Oak can get hired again on Broadway.

An awful lot of opinion parading as fact there, no? And now that you lost out on the "he'll never work again" bandwagon, and are reduced to criticizing the show he was cast on, why should we pay attention to your pronouncement about his Broadway future?
There has been a huge amount of pathology in these Oak threads so I guess it is too much to expect that the manifestations would die down.

I think it's all so amazing how people are wishing him bad in his career because he spoke about a situation HE was in with a show that has unfortunately closed and gone. Blaming him for Comet closing is nonsensical and just reductive now, especially with the way things were handled with the situation as a whole. Maybe if actors of color (all minorities included) felt things were better in casting it wouldn't have ended like this, but unfortunately when you survey the whole they are not. If they were what he said (and others said for him) would not have mattered but this situation spoke to a larger issue, a much larger issue that needs to be addressed.
I wish Oak nothing but the best, he's always been absolutely amazing and down to earth since I met him and he is very talented which he has shown in Rocky, in Hamilton, and in Comet. To discredit his talent is not fair and it's not right.

I'm so tired of reading this defense.
Once again, we are not blaming Oak for Comet's closing. We understand that Broadway is business, and, hey, if you can't get your seats filled, your show is doomed.
We are, however, criticizing Oak's response to this whole ****show, from agreeing that it has something to do with race (it's not), bringing it up again after all is laid to rest, to showing just blatant disrespect to his fellow, former cast and crew. His talent has nothing to do with this.
No, Oak did not cause the Comet ship to sink, but he was pretty damn happy to be watching it from afar on a lifeboat.
