He is our burden in life. But ...... I can't totally dismiss him because he recognized the merits of NEXT TO NORMAL.

I don't see what's so awful about this. We all know the man's a tosser (and really unattractive), but I was surprised how complimentary he was.

I agree with a lot of what he is saying! Weall know he can be very harsh, but he makes a few good points aswell as the bad!

re: Ben Brantley London Review.

Chrissy, I agree. I think overall he is quite balanced. OK he doesn't like our two recent popular hits, but he is very complimentary about La Cage and ALNM. And having seen Nunsense, whoops Sister Act I mean, I also found it rather synthetic and generic, even with its fantastic production values.

re: Ben Brantley London Review.

See Deathstar is lost for words, didn't know Brantley could have that affect. lol

Not many shows are critic prove in New York (except for Cats, Wicked and Beauty and the Beast etc), so reviews are the most powerful marketing tool, with word of mouth, this will give producers a good heads up to what to take to New York, if I was Menier I would book two theatres!

One problem with Brantley he uses too many posh words that, I do not know the meaning, so have to look up in dictionary, then when at end of review still working out if it is a good write up or not.

re: Ben Brantley London Review.

I don't see what the problem is.

Apart from the prejudiced Catherine Zeta Jones quote.

In my opinion CZJ completely outshone Renee Zellweger, who gave a much better performance as a Brit in Bridget Jones Diary than she did as Roxie in Chicago.

Meh, sounds pretty standard critic stuff to sneer at the big populist shows and prefer the little arty ones regardless of the virtues of either.
