That is too bad. The post was fun then.

I read that as "Bernadette Peters and communist end feud" and was confused what this was about...
There is a not-very-opaque backstory to this "feud" ending. He knows on which side his bread is buttered.

A few years ago, I met Michael Riedel at a speaking engagement and afterwards asked him why he did what he did. As much as I despise his column persona, he was quite forthright. He told me that there have always been 'gossip' columnist and that he was filling a role. When I asked how he lives with himself, he answered, "therapy, a lot of therapy".

I wonder if his gossip was good for business. He was horrid to Donna Murphy as well.

LOL!At first, i did too! I'm thinking which communist has she been feuding with all these years?
Though the country and the White House seems more divisive today than ever, at least Patti Lupone and Bernadette Peters are making the world a little more kinder with both of them ending their respective 'feuds'. I'm sure if Crawford and Davis were still alive, their feud would have ended this month, too.

Patti said on Andy Cohens show that she never had a feud with Bernadette. That it was fan created. She also said she really didn’t know her.

Wow, I don't think I would have had the guts to confront him like that, but bravo. I'm glad someone did.

My apologies - I was referring to the Patti Lupone /Andrew Lloyd Webber feud that ended a few days before the Grammys earlier this month. That was a 24 year feud which finally reached it's end.
I think Peters and LuPone should get together and recreate the Merman/Martin duet from the Ford 50th Anniversary show.
So, he’s an interesting guy. A number of years ago when Buckley was doing her Broadway By Request act at the old Feinstein’s, I went to see the show alone. I ended up at a single table, and low and behold about ten minutes after I sat down, Mr. Riedel was sat next to me. I had a few 7&7’s in me at that point and was feeling brave. I looked at him and asked him if he thought Billy Elliot was going to win the Tony for Best Musical that year, or did he have some half-baked idea that was being fed to him by a publicist. He turned, smiled and said “do I know you?”. He asked me if I lived in the city and I told him that I was from upstate and he then asked me how I knew who he was. I told him I read his column on a regular basis and that I saw him in the Showbuiness documentary that chronicled the 2004 Broadway Season. He said, “well, I came off like an ass in that” to which I said “actually you really did”. He laughed, told me he went to college not far from where I live and struck up a pretty good conversation.
He, like I, is a huge Buckley fan. At the end of the show, he asked me if I wanted to go backstage with him, which of course I took him up on his offer. I spent almost 45 minutes backstage with him and Betty Buckley, and I have to say I don’t remember much of what we all talked about, but it was a great time. I left - thanked them both, and walked away with a slightly different opinion of him. I agree he is nowhere near as relevant as he used to be, but when he’s not trying to keep his job at the NY Post, he’s actually kinda fun to talk to.

JBroadway thank you for your confidence in my courage. I'm sort of like that. I wasn't rude, I was authentic and genuinely wanted to know what his relationship with his persona was. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised that he took my questions seriously and discussed with me how he saw his role within the Broadway community.
A totally different story... I also approached Ann Coulter and asked her a similar question: How she processed be such a divisive author and news personality. Unlike Mr. Riedel, she was just vile. She became immediately defensive and ranted on and on explaining her perspective.

Doesn't surprise me at all, as she comes across as a defensive/vile person on television. I never thought it was 'an act'.

Reporting the fact that Murphy missed lots of performances is not being horrid. It was fair and accurate reporting.

I disagree. He wasn't just stating facts, he was using the events to spread venom and gossip. It's all about the angle of the writing, and it's not like he was concerned for her well being.

He was horrible to her. His words were vicious and mean. Maybe someone can post a link.
