This is so sad. Im still praying for her. I can't believe she did Roses Turn! I feel like standing up in my room right now by myself and giving her a standing O.

Bernadette Peters is one of those who comes along once in a lifetime if you are fortunate, She has such a talent and such a big heart, She is just the greatest. It's never easy losing a loved one no matter who you are, But she carries herself as she has lived her life with such flawless style & class, I suppose we could all take a cue from this truly wonderful woman - who I might add still doesn't look her age. She is a Marvel! We Love You BP! Forever!

If it is at all possible for other people to learn by example, I wish for anyone who tends toward self-consumption, egotism or sense of entitlement to pay very close attention to this amazing woman. Brava, Ms. Peters, and may you have felt even a little bit of the love, respect and support that you so obviously deserve.

"she carries herself as she has lived her life with such flawless style & class"

I certainly thought that she demonstrated a great deal of class and grace under pressure during the whole Gypsy thing. At least publicly, she never came off as bitter or angry over any of the negativity surrounding her casting. She doesn’t seem to go around bad mouthing people she’s worked with, she donates her time and personal memorabilia to charitable causes, and in interviews she’s upbeat and focused on finding the positive aspects of her experiences which is why it seems particularly cruel for something like this to happen her.

A few months ago I heard her talking to Jonathan Schwartz on his radio program. At one point they were talking about her husband and I thought she spoke of him with such fondness and admiration, saying how he was inherently musical, had taught himself to play an instrument when he was younger, and that he could draw really well but would deny being able to do any of these things. I think she said he loved Sondheim’s music too. Throughout the program, they played musical selections that were meaningful to Bernadette and closed the show with some Irish music that had been played at her wedding. She said they had seen the movie Cold Comfort Farm and wanted their wedding to be like the one in the film. It was a sweet, joyful way to end the broadcast, one that seemed to capture the spirit of the guest that afternoon.

BSoBW2..

I got your anecdote immediately and it was perfectly fine on this thread.

I am sorry but Dame and that other person must have ridden the short bus to school if they weren't able to understand the point of your story. It was a sweet little side note in favor of Bernadette. What didn't they get??

Don't ever apologize. You can say whatever you want.

Peace, sweetie...

Di2;
There you go again trying to turn this into a nasty thread. If you would pay attention you would see that the poster updated his post. He had not originally written Bernadettes name on it.. so we all thought he was just talking about Eden.

Back to Bernadette..
I forgot I have that Jonathan Schwartz interview. I will re-listen to it tonight.

re: Bernadette Peters went on with the show this weekend.

FYI - I am a he.

And sorry for another threadjack, but...

I was in class today and we were talking about Bernadette coming.

My friend busted out and said, "of course she's still performing, her husband was out seeing his mistress"

OK, now I don't know anything about their relationship, nor do I know about her husband's personal life...and I don't wish to slander his name...but has anyone else heard this RUMOR?

I know the news said he was looking for real estate - but I don't know where this (the affair idea) came from...

Thanks!

re: Bernadette Peters went on with the show this weekend.

Wow, what started as a really nice tribute to Bernadette's professionalism and sorrow has turned into a really nasty and hateful thread filled with rumor and name calling. I am sure if she is reading this she is feeling so much better. Aw, fans...gotta love 'em.

PEACE.

just standing up for BSoBW2's quip..

no one should have to apologize for anything on a message board.

BWW has "cops" that immediately dog you if you write anything that they don't agree with, feel is appropriate, etc etc...

ridiculous.
