I'd love to see Patina win
Sutton just grates me in her current show, nothing really made me go "wow" with the performance. So, I hope the Tony goes to Patina!
What happened to the "It's Miller's to loose" sentiment?
If Sherie gets the nomination she'll be tied with Dee Hoty for "biggest loser" in the Best Leading Actress in a Musical category. Both will have been nominated three times without ever winning. Therefore, I can't decide if it would be good or bad for her to get the nomination.
"I love Sherrie but her performance in WOTV was literally the worst leading female performance I have ever seen on a Broadway stage."
Rougeduck I'd rather see Sherie pour her heart into a complex role with honesty than watch Janet Decal and Patina Miller overact for 2hours.

Yeah this is a good question. Sutton is great in Anything Goes, no doubt about that. But Patina is giving an AMAZING performance...and I wonder if they'll be adventurous and go with a newcomer. In all honesty, Murphy, Dacal, And Scott just aren't contenders because the roles aren't tony-worthy roles. I mean, I think each of those actors is worthy of a nomination, but when the show is a mess and/or has already closed, the tony voters aren't going to be voting for you...
Moral of the story, I think Sutton is an easier bet, and probably more likely, but I'm definitely pulling for Patina as the underdog.

So backwoodsbarbie are you not a Sherie fan? Then why do you have her picture up if you're going to bash her and call her a loser? Is it better to be nominated THREE times and never win, or to never have a nomination like many so-called great Broadway actresses, or be given a pity nomination like Decal's would be?
So you must have a Tony then right? To be able to call someone with 3nominations and no wins a possible loser?
Silly.
Backwoodsbarbie isn't calling Sherie herself a loser. It's just a fact that if Sherie is nominated it will be her third consecutive nomination and (most likely) loss. Perhaps "loser" is too strong a term but I highly doubt it was meant negatively. There's no bashing going on in barbie's statement.
That was not meant to be a Sherie bashing whatsoever, she is one of my idols and I love her. The reason I said "loser" was because I was just looking at a Tony trivia site that said Dee Hoty was the "biggest loser" in the Best Actress in a Musical category because she was nominated three times and has never won. Therefore, I was just stating the fact that Sherie would be tied with her if she is nominated this year. In my opinion she should have won the Tony last year for Everyday Rapture, but that's another story completely. For the record, my other favorite actress is Kelli O'Hara and she too has "lost" the Tony three times.
You do realize that being nominated is an incredible honor, don't you?
"You do realize that being nominated is an incredible honor, don't you?"
thank you jordan. THAT was my point to backwoodsbarbie. there are actors who have been on broadway in one capacity or another who have NEVER received that honor.
anyway, I don't think Sherie would be too crushed either way. She owns a record company that puts out most Broadway soundtracks and is stankin rich so I'm sure that would ease the potential pain.
moving on..........
I do realize that it is an honor to be nominated. Sherie will win one eventually.
I, for one, would love to see Sherie nominated tomorrow. I loved her and I loved that show.
I was team Sherie last year. I would love to see her nominated this year, even if it's unlikely that she will win (but we should keep in mind who won last year). I'm pushing for Donna Murphy even though it's not a Tony-winning role... I do think Sutton will take it home.
Jordan I'm praying for a nomination for Sherie tomorrow as well. I too enjoyed the show and I hope it will also get a nod for score, orchestrations, and of course Laura Benanti.
I think Beth Leavel is likely to make it in over Sherie. Beth Leavel seemed to get "she's doing the best she can given the material" kind of reviews, while many seemed to have issues with Sherie's performance.
I would agree that WOTV seems to be gaining some momentum with the release of the cast album. While a month ago, I would have said Benanti was its only nomination, I am now thinking that LuPone and the score are also getting nominated.
"She owns a record company...and is stankin' rich."
WTF are you talkin' about?
Her husband's company is actually small potatoes, did you mean that as a joke?
"Her husband's company is actually small potatoes, did you mean that as a joke?"
Actually, no I didn't. They may not be Sony, but from what I understand, it's enough to have a penthouse and summer home. Do you have those things? No. So regardless of a nomination, she will always be fine, unlike some other actors who will continue to struggle. That was my point, and that's WTF I'm talking about.

You're extremely obnoxious. How do you know Curtain doesn't have those things?
"You're extremely obnoxious. How do you know Curtain doesn't have those things?"
why, thank you ljay889. Most people don't have those things so it's a safe bet, but if he/she does, then good for them, they know what it's like to live a comfortable life and not give a **** about nominations, awards, or people's opinions.
moving on, can't wait to see what happens in the morning! Good luck to all of the ladies who are eligible, various levels of talent, good material, and all.
