Hello, we recently ran a long-running poll competition on Twitter (@justmusicalpoll) where over 1000 people voted for their favourite male Broadway actor. The winner almost unsurprisingly was Lin Manuel Miranda, with Jonathan Groff coming second but by quite a mile. Aaron Tveit third and James Corden 4th. What do you think?

I don't understand the point of this question. Why are you focusing on a singularity? This question seems to bring about exclusivity as opposed to inclusivity. You're creating an exclusive list like insecure attention-deficient children at school. This reminds me of Tiger Beat Magazine or some other long-forgotten tweenage fad that promoted individualism and poor ideals. Could you focus your energy on something that would benefit the theater community and not just individuals? It's obvious you appreciate the theater or at least the people in it so don't rank them as that only demeans them and hurts those who fall on to the end of the list or don't get named at all.
I think you cast your net over a small, young audience with very little long-term memory...
What about
Michael Cerveris
Danny Burstein
Mandy Patinkin
Zero Mostel
Brian Stokes Mitchell
George Hearn
Nathan Lane
Etc.
Etc
Etc?
That list that has been created by all those voters is absolutely hilariously bad. Geez, James Corden? Really?

So...James Corden, Lin Manuel Miranda and Jonathan Groff all competed in the "best Broadway male actor" poll with only 2 Broadway acting credits each to their name? Interesting.

Not for nothing, Tony voters didn't even think LMM was the best actor in his show, let alone the entirety of the Broadway community.

I wonder how many of those people polled had even HEARD of Alfred Drake, John Raitt, Richard Kiley, Robert Preston, Zero Mostel, or Jerry Orbach?
And those are just musicals! Alfred Lunt, Jason Robards, Christopher Plummer, Nicol Williamson, George C. Scott, Lee J. Cobb, Brian Dennehy, Michael Gambon, Ian McKellen, Philip Seymour Hoffman.
In the modern theatre (plays and musicals)? My personal vote would be Nathan Lane, Mark Rylance, Frank Langella, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Hugh Jackman, and Jonathan Pryce.
Lin is a lovely person and I would say a gifted songwriter but his acting is NOT the draw...

Doesn't Jonathan have 3 credits? He was in a play at some point.

It's a shame Twitter has such a young demographic still getting over the Hamilton hype, some of these are iconic

He's never been in a play on Broadway. He DOES have 3 credits, though- he was an understudy in In My Life.

He's done a few plays Off Broadway. Other than Spring Awakening and Hamilton, his only other Broadway credit is Swing/Understudy in In My Life.
Please don't get into a fuss about this, y'all. Twitter polls are inherently stupid and self-limiting for anything other than choosing the next Buzzfeed video or Kylie Jenner makeup kit.

What do I think? I think the biggest problem this board has is that there are just not enough threads started that ask people for their favorite this or their least favorite that or their top 3 favorite whatevers or their least favorite part of their most favorite whatever. So clearly you are filling a real void. Thanks for that!
P.S. It's either a poll or a competition. Not sure what a poll competition is unless it's a bunch of Polish people competing at something and pretty sure that would be a Pole competition.
