What does everyone think is the best dance show they have seen? And what show has the best dance? (Some people can interpret those two things as different, some don't)

Mine is:

Dance of the Vampires
and I really enjoyed the choreography during the company numbers in Aida.

I haven't seen like tons of Broadway shows live but I have to say 42nd St. I was amazed as far as tap. Cats is also at the top of my list!!

I loved the dancing in AIDA, even though I had to supress a giggle at the sight of dancing ministers.

Cats. The mixture of acrobatics, modern, ballet, and tap dance is just so great. only good thing about the show though. the set was awesome too.

I would take the dancing in "Sweet Charity" or "Chicago" over "Cats" any day. For that matter, I would vote for any other dance musical over "Cats." "Cats" is one of the major artistic embarrassments of the 1980s.

Cats. Definitely. I wish I could dance like that.

I remain loyal to "Never Gonna Dance". The rooftop dance was gorgeous, and I loved the grand central sequence (20 minutes of tapping!). "Chicago" is also fantastic.

I was blown away by Chicago, too. But I also have to say, that I enjoyed immensely the dancing in Hairspray !

Take care

That is currently running, the dancing in Movin' Out is aboslutely stunning. All of those dances are based on having flawless ballet technique at the core which makes for extremely entertaining and well-danced contemporary FUN!
Also, let's see...Chicago, of course is great. Although not the best choroeography, I thought the dancing in Millie was quite cute. The speakeasy scene and forget about the boy.
And just for the record, May I say that the chroreography in Wicked is the most bizarre thing I have EVER seen. It's just plain weird and not for any apparent reason...one short day (The random girl on pointe? And the huge semi-decapitated clown creatures don't help)

I know exactly what you mean with wicked! I was just sitting there like "why?" I mean as a whole picture it looked good but again...I feel that you should be able to look at every individual dancer and what they are doing should make sense. For the most part. I mean there are parts where that doesn't apply but...not now. It was "special" staging.

Sadly. And embarassingly. And shamefully. I must say CATS.

But there are MANY that are close. WSS, ACL, 42S

As much as I dont like the show, Cats did have some really good dancing. I would have to say that ACL is the best dance show. Close behind that as WSS, Fosse, and while I didnt see it, I can imagine the dancing in Jerome Robbins Broadway was amazing.
