Rosalind Russell is still my favorite elphie!

No one has ever belted GRAVITY as good as the Roz!

only saw idina and shoshana.

i don't like idina.

i loved shoshana.

i heard eden was amazing...and I wouldn't be surprised if she was.

i can't really pick...i've only seen 2.

Ethel Merman was by far the best. But I thought she really sang loud.

Hands down Idina Menzel was the best Elphie. Closely followed by Stephanie J. Block in my book.

Now, again, here's my question. It clearly states in the subject of this thread what this person wants to know. Now, they may be new, they may not want to use the search feature, they may just want to ask their question without getting crucified. It's a public message board about theater, they should be allowed to ask it. Has this question been done to death, of course it has. However, you SEE in the subject what it is! If it really works your nerves, just avoid the thread! It's not rocket science. What's more annoying than this thread is the people that HAVE to remind us about it a dozen times. So, maybe there should be a message board with off topic, student, "wicked," and people who like to complain about every damn thing...

Vincent, amen.

And, since WICKED is playing on Broadway there shouldn't be any problems with a Wicked topics coming up on this board. Maybe there's (a lot) more of them than of any other show but one can avoid them if it gets on one's nerves.

And to answer to the question asked: I've only seen Idina and Shoshana. Idina sung the role MUCH better, Shoshana's voice was a big disappointment. But her acting was excellent. But still: Idina.

For Vincent

Harvey Fierstien

Carol Channing

Elaine Stritch

If they can post the same message over and over, I can complain. You don't like it?
I don't care.

Yes, you're right, you can complain all you want. Just know that as much as the topic annoys you, the complaining annoys others...so, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. re: Best Elphaba from Wicked...

Shoshana is really great and talented, but without a doubt, Idina. Idina just all around told the story better, you could basically feel Elphaba's pain. Sorry if that was cheesy, but it's just my opinion.

^ And if you're tired of Shoshana's stupid riffs that don't belong, and her lackluster ending to GRAVITY.

Anyway. Hamburg - yes NOBODY I mean NOBODY belts that Middle C like Roz!!

Hey, dont knock the riffs, I think they kick ass. And I also LOVE shoshana's ending of DG, going up to the F sounds way cool, and it's definately something Dee wouldn't be able to do consistantly.

I vote for ANA!!! I know.... but not enough people have seen here. She really is incredible. A great character actress. And she really builds the vocals.

I've been wondering about Ana lately. How has her voice been holding up, now that she's been doing the show for a few months?

Just saw her a couple days ago. She's doing great! Doens't really let go on Wizard and I... but it's more of a character thing. She plays E. really pulled back in the beginning then lets her loose on Defying. Her voice is amazing. I hope she stays past January.

Vincent,

You're the first person that I've noticed that has handled the "search/complaining" situation eloquently. Thank you. And doesn't it seem that it would take more effort to complain than to just simply answer the question or ignore it?

PS...FINALLY getting to see the show in NYC next week. And does anyone know if the understudy has gone on in Chicago?
