yeah... the green does look good on her. Wonder what Ana would look like doing her SNL Martha Stewart or Celine Dion while green....

Thank you Otis, I do try. There are many threads on this board taht don't interest me, but rather than going into them and complaining and being obnoxious, I just ignore it. It's a wonder...hehe
Anyway, if you want to hear real Idina singing check out her solo albums, and THE WILD PARTY. She can sing.
She has classical training, which she hasn't used. But this spring she will be in LaChiusa's new show SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE, and it's a role previously played by Audra - and we know know Audra is a classical soprano. So I have a feeling Idina will be using more of her classical sound - plus LaChiusa's scores aren't easy sh*t.
Or because, you know...she CAN actually sing, and she ACTS the role really well, unlike Shoshana. She has a very real, raw, natural quality in her acting AND her portrayal of the role is deeper and more complex than that of the others. In other words, she doesn't just recite the very boring words of the script back at the audience and pretend it's acting. She actually brought a lot to the show to make at least SOME of it a bit exciting.
Idina can most definitely sing. But I realize she's not everyone's cup of tea. I personally cannot wait to see her this Fall in See What I Wanna See. I bought a Public Theatre membership specifically for this production and I'm a poor college student.
Can somebody explain what they mean by "Idina gasping/screaming"? I've heard quite a few people mention this... on the cast album, or live?

People say that Idina screams rather than sings. And the last half of her run, she began inhaling loudly and it was very apparent to the audience. She didn't when I saw the show, but I saw her in the first 5 months of her run.
I loved Ana when I saw her. I agree that she didn't blow me away like Sho did in Wizard and I, but her voice was amazing in Defying Gravity. I like her the best.
Stephanie was fabulous. I also saw Idina and to me there's no comparison. IMO Stephanie's acting was amazing, and it totally changed the way I viewed Elphaba and the show. Plus I never felt like she was screaming, it was more like "Holy crap, she has the most powerful voice I've ever heard." So yay Steph!
