"All the Wasted Time" from Parade
and "A Little Fall of Rain" from Les Mis
are close runner-ups.

I assume you're including film musicals in this thread?... since Something Good was written for the movie by Rodgers (both music and lyrics). It wasn't in the stage show.
EDIT: You really ought to fix that "Sound of TYPO." It's driving me crazy. I keep wanting to dive at it with a red pen.
(sorry if that was bitchy)

I think "Say It Somehow" from Light in the Piazza is simply gorgeous and very touching as a love scene. Very hot, as well.

How about the ballet or the scene with the rotating bed from Thou Shalt Not? Ok...just kidding
I have to second "If I Loved You", that entire scene is great. As is "Say it Somehow" from Piazza.
I like the scene from Secret Garden where Archie sings the song "A Girl in the Valley" with Lily.

I would say IF I LOVED YOU is perhaps the best scene (love or otherwise) from any musical ever.
It's simply the most perfectly constructed moment in the musical theatre.

C'mon - this is a no brainer! It's "You Can Be As Loud As the Hell You Want When You're Making Love."
No contest! It's got puppets doing it and everything!

R&H have lots of good love scenes in many of their musicals. "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" from The Sound of Music is a cute, playful scene. In South Pacific, the scenes with "Younger than Springtime" and "Some Enchanted Evening" from South Pacific are two great scenes as well. In Oklahoma!, I would probably say the scene after the box social where the reprise of "People Will Say We're in Love" is sung is the most romantic.
EDIT: I corrected my super boneheaded mistake!! Please forgive my stupidity...it has been a long and busy day at work....for some reason I always mix up the songs from Oklahoma! and Brigadoon!

The scene at the end of Act I in Bare (I believe it's Ivy and Jason). VERY hot.

You mean "People Will Say We're In Love", right? "Almost Like Being In Love" is from Brigadoon, isn't it?
Oh, and I second "Something Good". It's the standard by which all other love scenes are measured.

The opening number in Passion.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

I've got to put my vote in for "Like Zis, Like Zat" in DRS. I think Greg and Joanna are wonderful in that song! (particularly him!)

Well, when I saw Phantom in Los Angeles... "All I Ask of You" was the best I'd personally seen on stage. (And that's a lot of love songs in a lot of shows, folks.)
But nearly every other time I've seen this song peformed (including on Broadway), it's been "nice" but not incredible.
My memories of the scene and duet in L.A. (with Dale Kristien and Reece Holland) are the pinnacle.
Add in the Paris rooftop sets and lighting, and those sweeping (corny) and romantic orchestrations. Man, I'm getting chills just thinking about it.
The best.

"If I Loved You." Wonderful!
It's not a love scene exactly, but the "I Love You Song" is so touching!

Though I'm a sucker for Sun and Moon from Miss Saigon. So over the top, but stil.......Shame they ruin it later on with that horrible saxophone song....

You know... after reading all these responses... R&H pretty much rule the Great White Way when it comes to writing the best love scenes.
No arguments here.
