Best Overall Cast you have seen

Often times one person sticks out in a cast of a show. What show cast that you've SEEN not HEARD, were you most pleased with as a whole?

For me the 2003 touring cast of AIDA, with Paulette Ivory, Jeremy Kuishnier(sp), and Lisa Bresica. They rocked my sox! Couldn't have been a better cast.

Caroline, or Change had a really spectacular all around cast, vocally and acting-wise. Avenue Q's cast was also perfect in everything they did, but their show just didn't reach as high as Caroline.

As a whole, I'd have to say the OBC of Proof in NYC, the current cast of the Rent tour, or the Canadian cast of Mamma Mia!

Well, it's been said before, but the nine Assassins along with Marc and the gang had amazing chemistry.

I know its cliche, but I hafta say the OBC of Rent and a close second for Assassins (minus that annoying little boy)

Although i didn't see the tour, the closing Aida cast was great.
Also the original Wicked cast (w/ Joel)
And the original Hairspray cast!

Eponine - I'm seeing Les Mis because you forced me. In return, you MUST see Rent. (But not hte current Bway cast.)

Tiff- I will do so. It'll take me a little while to do it but I will! :) As for the current Broadway cast, I have no desire to see Nick Lancy (is that his last name) but I adore Jeremy Kuishner.

Original cast of THE PRODUCERS - not a weak link anywhere in the company.

re: Best Overall Cast you have seen

When I went to see Scarlet Pimpernel, the cast was absolutely FLAWLESS, in my not-so-humble opinion: Ron Bohmer, Carolee Carmello, and Mark Kudisch.

Okay, so the show had been through so many incarnations that it was wearing thin...but the *cast* was fabulous! :0) They went above and beyond the poor material they had to work with, like a theatrical kind of alchemy, and made it shine.

I have to disagree about the OBC of Wicked....not because of the leads but because of the freakin' ensemble. There are a few in there that don't seem worthy of the task and are kind of shrill and annoying.

Agree about Q!!

Okay, here I go. I'm prepared to get burned for this one, but I will honestly say one of the most talented casts I have ever seen was Taboo. Think about it...
Raúl Esparza, Euan Morton, Jeffrey Carlson, Sarah Uriarte Berry, Cary Sheilds, Liz McCartney. Everyone was amazing and held their own.

I would also agree with Asassins. That show blew me away.

re: Best Overall Cast you have seen

I would say Wicked had the strongest ensemble in the sense that everyone is immensely talented, yada yada, but I think Norbert was miscast in the role, and Joey Grey was underused as the Wizard.

just my 2c.

re: Best Overall Cast you have seen

I don't know about that cast of SP. Now if you were talking about SP 1.0 with Doug Sills, Christine Andreas, and Terrence Mann that I couldn't argue with at all...but I purposely didn't see the Ron Bohmer cast because I'm not a big fan of him or of Kudish although I do adore Carolee.

Don't worry Tiff, the sole purpose I had in even seeing Wicked was because of how much I loved Norbert on the LFY recording or more importantly because of his fantastic performance in the disaster of a show that was Thou Shalt Not. When I saw Wicked I was shocked. I too thought he was miscast although in my cast it was more that not only did he not really fit the part but he was severely underused. As for Joel Grey, well I just thought he was "there." The role of the Wizard in the show is just not good so there wasn't much for either of them to do with their respective roles really.
And hang on, when did you win the discus?

re: Best Overall Cast you have seen

The show may have been panned by the critics for its book but THE BOY FROM OZ had a very strong major cast in terms of triple threat talents - Hugh Jackman, Stephanie J. Block, Isabel Keating, Mitchel Federan. Even Beth Fowler, Jarrod Emick, and Michael Mulheren were very strong in terms of acting/singing with some dancing skills. The ensemble was also a very strong singing and dancing team.
