Best Performance..No Tony

Who do you think deserved a Tony Award (whether it be main actor/actress or featured) but did not receive one?
I personally think that LINDA EDER should have gotten one for Jekyll & Hyde...she was amazing in that I thought.
re: Best Performance..No Tony#2

As much as I absolutely ADORE LInda Eder (as she is my goddess) I do believe that her not winning was okay. She was just basically put on stage and told to sing. It was like she stood still and the stage moved around her. (At least in the Broadway Version) -- She was much more involved in the show (so to speak) when it toured..... She danced and actually was able to use her acting (ish) chops...
Now.. I have to say that both Brian Stokes Mitchell and Marin Mazzie were robbed of their TONYS for RAGTIME..... Marin basically won it in my heart when she performed Back to Before
As much as I enjoyed Alan Cummings in CABARET I thought Raul Esparza did a better job in the role of Emcee. AND I personally liked Susan Egan better then Natasia.

There have been so many, but here are some of the most egregious:
Jason Robards for Moon for the Misbegotten
Ethel Merman for Gypsy
Raul Esparza for Company
Christopher Plummer for King Lear
Billy Crudup for The Pillowman
Geraldine Page for Sweet Bird of Youth
Some of the choices for best play have been real lulus:
Mister Roberts instead of A Streetcar Named Desire (!!!!!)
Desperate Hours instead of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (!!!!!!!!!)
I Am My Own Wife instead of anything it ran against
re: Best Performance..No Tony#7
Posted: 10/24/07 at 3:54pmI thought Barbara Streisand tied for the TONY that year.. or was it the OSCAR. I could look it up but I am at work and too tired and lazy.

Barbra Streisand tied for the Oscar with Katharine Hepburn (Lion in Winter). The feelings were very hot about whether Channing (Hello, Dolly) or Streisand (Funny Girl) would get the Tony. It was a VERY close race.

She tied for the Oscar with Katharine Hepburn in "The Lion in Winter."
She lost the Tony to Carol Channing in "Hello, Dolly!"

Bernadette in ITW... she wasn't even nominated... but Miss Gleason won... so...
Kim Crosby should have at least been nominated for ITW also, I think.

Best12,
I was wracking my brain about whether or not some of the ones you mentioned were right when I wrote my post. Glad to see my sad suspicions were confirmed.
Just continual proof that the Tony awards are not infallible ... they represent a moment in time.

Megan Hilty should have been nominated for that green witch musical... oh my god!
wicked? she wasn't in the original cast, though she did do a good job.
Raul Esparza (company) was robbed this year, i agree. I also think Adam Pascal should have won for rent, not that nathan lane wasn't great that year too.
