A New Argentina from Evita
Peters's ROSE'S TURN. Sandy Duncan's IM FLYING, Holiday's AN I AM TELLING YOU, Harris's GORGEOUS from THE APPLE TREE, Kuhn singing the title number from RAGS. And for pure bizarre curiosity the cast of AINT SUPPOSED TO DIE A NATURAL DEATH.
Michael Jeter doing the song "We'll Take A Glass Together" from Grand Hotel. The number was followed by his winning the award for featured actor in a musical. He gave the most touching acceptance speech I have ever heard at an awards show which literally had me in tears.
The only thing wrong with the number was that David Caroll was unable to do the number with him.

Opening number of A CHORUS LINE - original - in its entirety. They sure don't let you have that long a spot anymore.
A New Argentina,
Bernadette Peters' Rose's Turn
Patti LuPone's Everything's Coming up Roses,
The opening of the 2009 show (*despite sound issues and minus Billy Elliot, naturally),
2004 revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
I would have to agree that Grand Hotel's "We'll Take a Glass Together" is a great Tony performance given so flawlessly by Michael Jeter and the fact that the audience were cheering during the song made it magical.
Bernadette Peters' Rose's Turn.
--The Scarlet Pimpernel's "Into the Fire" with the ending that's the curtain call with Douglas Sills!
--"As If We Never Said Goodbye" - SUNSET BLVD.
2009 opening # is my favorite!

Alice and Emily's performance of "I Will Never Leave You" in 98 is one of my favorites that I have seen since I started watching in 95.
I'll also agree about Close's performance of "As If We Never Said Goodbye" in 95.
I also loved the 01 opening, with the cast of 42nd Street.
Bernadette Peters's "Rose's Turn" without question, but "Turkey Lurkey Time" is a very close second.

Brian Stokes Mitchell "Impossible Dream" no contest!
