Best & Worst Sightlines from the sides of theaters

I saw a lot of the backstage stuff while sitting on the side at Xanadu. I wouldn't say it was the best or the worst.

I saw Wicked from G- 13 and I saw backstage on the opposite side I was on, and it was cool to see things at an angle. Taught me alot about how things work backstage! I did miss seeing the cub in the school scene, and some dancers.

I enjoyed it. I did not enjoy knowing that I could have sat 7 seats over for half the price I paid.

For anyone that's been to the Schoenfeld:

I have tickets for Left Orch, Row E, Seats 9 & 11. Good sight line or bad?

I'm going to agree with the Ambassador for worst. Even the mezzanine is bad. I personally feel they should be selling those seats as partial view, but that's just me. Where I was sitting last week, the left side of the stage was cut off, and there was a light in the way too.

At the Hilton I sat all the way to the left at Young Frankenstien, I enjoyed getting to watch the backstage stuff, but the next day I sat in front row center and I realized I missed a lot. I didn't even know they had a big staircase going down into the labotory. I could hear the actors, but couldn't see them until they were on the stage. But that was the only big problem.

At the Broadway Theatre I sat on the left as well, and it was much better there. I don't remember missing anything, and I could see a lot of backstage stuff. It's really interesting.

So I guess it depends on if you like to see backstage, or if you perfer to watch the stage. But I think it's really interesting to watch the stage hands work, and see the actors before they get on stage.

It's not a broadway theater, but when I saw "Jersey Boys" in Chicago, I sat in the middle of the left mezzanine section and I could not see the screen that comes down stage right, and I had trouble seeing the scene with the piano at the church that was staged all the way over on stage right.

I sat in the mezzanine, literally the third seat from house right, and I had trouble seeing some of the dances that went all over the place, but that was about it.

I saw A Chorus Line at the Schoenfeld from the right side of the orchestra and repeatedly missed what was happening on that side of the stage because the sight line was so bad.
