The Strand is probably your best bet for a used book store here.

Definitely Strand. I've usually been able to find a pretty nice selection of theater books there too.

I don't know the name of it, but there's a used book store specializing in performing arts books located just west of Broadway on 72nd St...I keep expecting it to close, because when I go there it's always empty. Can someone supply the name?

That's near me. I've been in a couple of times-they also have a records section with CDs and stuff.

I'd also try Book Thug Nation in Brooklyn. They tend to be very reasonably priced.
