She loves playing LA. She brought Ill eat you last here. She has tried out her tours here... wishful thinking in my part. But maybe?
Well we know she isn't going to headline an entire tour of DOLLY so I suppose it would have to be a situation in which the otherwise contracted Dolly agreed to step aside so she could play the L.A. engagement. I suppose that is possible, but I would think that would also make the role a lot less viable to whatever name they've approached to do the rest of the tour.
And we have had a few reprise their Broadway turns here..
Dame -- what are some examples of actors who have "only" played the L.A engagement of national tours. I know it's happened but I don't know when.

Courtney Reed is playing Jasmine in LA now
Didn’t LBB do the Legally Blonde LA stop?
Both Matthew Morrison and Marissa Jaret WInokur joined the Los Angeles stop of the 1st National Tour of HAIRSPRAY in 2004.
Lena Hall and Darren Criss in the Hedwig tour
Idina and La Chanze in What/Why, I mean If/Then
Carmen Cusak in Bright Star
Tho I guess technically they all did most of the West coast or at least the major cities.
Matthew James Thomas and Andrea Martin did PIPPIN at the Pantages (also San Francisco) at the start of the tour.
Re Bette: I suppose it's possible, but with DOLLY only scheduled for a 3 week run, it would be nearly impossible to get tickets.
Also Lin Manuel Miranda did the LA stop of the In the Heights tour at the Pantages.
But you know....the tour is going to be a step down from Broadway. I bet they lose some ensemble members, and shrink the orchestra. I doubt Ms. Midler is going to go for that. I bet she just lets the "Hello Dolly" section of her upcoming tour be her chance to let the rest of the country see her in the part.
With a 3 week run, it seems unlikely. However, it's curious that the Pantages doesn't have a big seller to entice subscription renewals.
Norbert Leo Butz played LA in "Dirty Rotten Scroundrels."
Sure would be wonderful to see Bette again here in LA - but, highly unlikely. Time will tell.

I was hoping. However, when I saw it was only a 3 week run, my hopes were dashed. Too much of the 3 week run is sold to subscribers to sell high $$ single tickets it would probably need to for Bette.
But who is to say she wouldn’t do more than LA? She does love to tour .
Maybe if it plays San Francisco, too, she'll do it. It hasn't been stated where the tour is starting.
Hollywood Reporter is hopefull as well.

All the local media is using her red dress picture to announce the Pantages engagement. The LA times does put in small letters that casting has yet to be announced. But you know that a lot of people are just going to see Bette's picture and go by that.

The photo caption on that article calls her Bette MILDER. I clutched my pearls.
A poster on TalkinBroadway claims that Dolly on tour will be played by Reba McEntire, which would be a lot more fun and interesting to me than Christine Ebersole.
Of course it could be a totally bogus post, but I like the idea of it.

I'd LOVE to see Reba in this!
LA got Matthew James Thomas and Andrea Martin in Pippin for a few weeks.
I am so angry right now that you could stir-fry vegetables on the back of my neck! I called about getting tickets to LA Buckley in Hello, Dolly! at the Pantages, and was told they were subscription only. What the actual <<edited by BWW staff>>?? I never heard of such a thing as that.
So only well to do people can enjoy theater. I find this very, very sad.

I think what they meant is that right now the only tickets they're selling are subscriptions. Tickets for HELLO, DOLLY haven't gone on sale to the general public. According to the Ticketmaster website, the pre-sale doesn't happen till the end of October.
You're just early.

Dont worry! They do this so scalpers cant buy all the tickets right away. Keep an eye on their social media, tickets for the public will probally go on sale after October . They did this with Aladdin last year. :)
