The story is pretty cute, I laughed.  Quite a bit...because you can so see Groff be gobsmacked by this.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Most of us don't either. My only explanation is that it started with Lin on Twitter and went from there (similar to #YayHamlet). Jonathan Groff doesn't have a twitter, so that is how Lin was tagging him.

The thing is, besides being an utter toad of a human being, Riedel usually has the least knowledge of the topic in the room. He doesn't usually understand the content or approach of a show, and is always completely and unfailingly socially ignorant, which makes it really infuriating when Susan can't get a word in edgewise. A definitive mansplainer; it's always painful when he has female guests. I watch the show sporadically when I really want to see a guest, because it's the only theatre talkshow we have, but it would be so much better without this hateful clown in a dadcoat. Nope, that's wrong. Lin has always called him Groffsauce. It's not a twitter thing, it's just his nickname for him.

Nope, that's wrong. Lin has always called him Groffsauce. It's not a twitter thing, it's just his nickname for him. "

I meant that it started spreading from Lin through twitter. The normal theatregoer didn't call him Groffsauce before seeing Lin on twitter. Once people started seeing #Groffsauce, the name spread to non-Lin people.

Lin states that there is no straight male equivalent.   Then he comes up with one that is pretty perfect.   No wonder he got a genius grant.
