Dreamgirls the movie is not gonna to be Broadway...it gonna to be the adaptation of what Broadway could never do for Dreamgirls by giving us illusions which will continue the Dreamgirls lasting social significance.
...stop losing sight with your passive-aggressive love for Beyonce. This is an ensemble cast. Get grip of your emotions.
Why be passive-aggresive when you could just be aggressive?
All points should be valid people, whether you agree with them or not, and should not be attacked with such verocity.
Some of us are big fans of Beyonce and/or Destiny's Child, but even that is in conflict with the Broadway side of us that is afraid of the integrity of the original Broadway product being somehow diminished by the focus on one star. That's not a Broadway thing to do, it's a Hollywood thing to do. And that doesn't necessarily take away from the talents of said individual.
And either way you go, it's tough because you want it to be true to the source, but still want people to see the movie and understand certain choices must be made.

franlky, the way the story broke this news makes me wonder if the writer was mistaken.
perhaps the writer misunderstood the new songs from krieger (possibly for written to beef up Deena's role) as songs written by Beyonce.
And Kreiger can stop them from using those songs, like Kander and Ebb stopped Harvey Weinstein from using a Janet Jackson song in "Chicago" (even over the credits).
Let's see...
Why is everyone assuming that this ONE song is gonna just be Beyonce Beyonce Beyonce. How do we know she's not writing it for all the girls to sing.

I cannot believe how many bloody snobs we have here. I think a healthy dose of 'deal with it' is needed.
Personally I for once am excited about the movie AND the direction it is being taken into.

The only way their grammy's sould be considered a joke to some would be if they won for a vocal performance (many people think neither paula or britney can sing). Many people don't understand the grammy categories and simply think they have no merit because a person who's talent they don't respect has won, however, if you look at the categories they've won in you'd probably understand the win.

Okay, you're right. So I'll change my response to "they were NOMINATED for Grammys; what does that tell you." And they arent the only people who are minimally talented that won some of the more mainstream awards. BEPs, Milli Vanilli, Madonna, Mya: all Grammy winners.

I have it on VERY good authority that Beyonce is NOT writing ANY new songs for the film. She has the contractual right to offer a song to Condon and the producers for use during the closing credits, but they are under no obligation to use it (though they possibly might). Henry Krieger has written 4 new songs for the film and those are the ONLY new additions to the score -- nothing by Beyonce will be in the main body of the film. The rumor was wrong.
"They need to get Chris Columbus to direct this."
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhahahahahahahahahhahahahaaaaaaa!
Ehem. *Wipes tear from eye. Finishes reading the thread.*
Margo is 100 % right and filming is going great. I have one client in the movie and two ex interns doing A.D work on the film. As for the rest of the stuff written on this thread.. someone is full of alot of bull.
I have confidence in this film. People who are being negative by overexposing an element being CONSIDERED for the film-BACK OFF! What's next? What if someone hears that they might be trimming down, say, "I'm Looking for Something" or "Goin' Downtown", for time? That will become a huge thread topic where all pessimists will say "Oh no! This film is going to RUIN Dreamgirls"
Let Bill Condon make this movie, then when you SEE it you can criticize it. In the mean time, I'm just going to relax and be patient.
