Posted: 7/11/08 at 11:15pmI think Xanadu and Glory Days have to be the biggest surprises. Xanadu for actually being moderately successful, and Glory Days for getting to Broadway, and then failing miserably.

#10re: Biggest 07-08 Surprise
Posted: 7/12/08 at 12:04amThe fact that the Little Mermaid was bad or that is got lackluster reviews and of course Xanadu
#11re: Biggest 07-08 Surprise

Definitely that two revivals of old-fashioned musicals that have been overdone in community theaters across the country were two of the best productions of the year.
And of course that XANADU was so wildly fun.
And, also that GLORY DAYS opened and closed within 24 hours of eachother.

Posted: 7/12/08 at 9:01amThe fact that this season has turned me into a fan of plays as well as musicals, which was accomplished through "The Farnsworth Invention," "Is He Dead?," and "The Seafarer."

My declining interest and disappointment in the recent Broadway Musicals.
My rediscovery in the joys of a Play - both on and off Broadway.

I have two:
Xanadu for finding an audience, sticking through lean times, and being nominated for Best Musical.
Young Frankenstein for being so awful considering the big budget. (I am not referring to the talented actors!)
