Blonde's Kritzer Cast in Fierstein-Bucchino Catered Affair

So much for Kritzer in Funny Girl. She just got a lead role in A Catered Affair for the spring 2008 Broadway season!

Kritzer has been cast as Jane Hurley in the new Harvey Fierstein-John Bucchino musical A Catered Affair, which will open at a Jujamcyn theatre to be named in spring 2008. Tony winner John Doyle will direct the production, which will debut at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre before arriving on Broadway. Performances at the Old Globe will begin Sept. 20.

How terrific for her to finally be able to originate a leading role. She had it a long time coming. I suposse that sooner or later, good things do happen to talented and under-appreciated actors. Will be interesting to see this show develop... I hadn't heard of the play. And goofy108-- I hope she plays the Mellotron.

I'm so happy for her! She really deserves a leading role and it is great to see her working side-by-side with the great Harvey and Faith. I'm excited to hear the other casting!

I'm happy for her as well! She completely deserves a role in which she can properly shine.

She's leaving Legally Blonde in August.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Kritzer was going to leave "Legally Blonde" in the fall anyway to do "Vanities" Off-Broadway in the spring, no? It's not like this is really sudden.. a higher profile project just came along.
